I am 3 weeks out and tonight I had about 4oz of white wine. I didn't even think about it (dumb I know) it was just served with Xmas supper. I feel fine, not even a buzz and no pain. Could I have done damage to my sleeve?

If you're not hurting, I doubt you did much damage. But I'd be careful not to do this again until you're fully healed. Don't push your luck. It's sometimes easy in the beginning to forget that we have to learn new eating and drinking habits. Those old reflexes kick in and we down something we shouldn't....or too much or too fast. I know I tried to guzzle Water too fast once or twice before I relearned not to ever do that again. Now's the time to focus. Let your body heal from the major surgery.

I can't tolerate wine at all now. I have tried!!! But even a small mouthful burns my new stomach, which I take as a bad sign. Besides, it's kind of a good thing for ME not to be able to drink wine :-)

Love your outfit Butter!

Hello, for all the good advice that is available here, I also had a couple of glasses of wine today. I had no ill effects, but I do understand that this is not a good thing to do. One point was that the wine did not taste as good as it did in the past, perhaps that is a good thing. I know that this was a mistake and will try not to repeat. The amount of food I can eat at meal time has been painfully learned and I now manage to eat only what gets me close to full no more. I was sleeved on 11/25 and as of today I am down 79 lbs total ( 40 lb pre-op and 39 lb post)

I feel great and am still glad that I made the choice to have the procedure.

What Butter said. Doubtful you did harm today, but not a good habit to get into.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
