Ow many carbs should I aim for at 5 months out. I have a feeling they contribute to my stalls. Down 111 pounds in 5 months and want to keep it going.

I'm 4 months out and budget for 50 carbs a day at 1000 cals. Some people can eat more and be fine some can not. I don't really know if I can have more but I've been doing ok with 50. :)

And great job on your loss!! 111 is amazing in 5 months :)

I aim for 20% of my calories being carbs....with almost none of them being starches. That's key. So for a 1000 calories per day that would be 50 grams......exactly what Sophiepants stated.

Thanks. I thought the magic number was 50 on 1000 calories. Yesterday and today are a loss. Lol. Too much grazing. Oh well back to program tomorrow!!

I avoid carbs. If I eat them I feel that I am taking up precious room for Protein, I tend to not feel good after eating carbs now.

111 lbs in 5 months!?! Way to go! Not sure you need to change anything with progress like that. Everyone stalls, it's completely natural.

My nut has us on 60 carbs max per day and no more than 20 per meal. Like the others, I try to use healthy carbs like nuts, vegs, dairy, etc. and tend to avoid breads, Pasta, rice, potatoes. I read people on here with ranges from 40 to 60. 50 works for a lot of people. I'd probably lose faster if I stuck with 50.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
