Tomorrow is my day!

Wish me luck everyone! I'll be banded tomorrow morning. I'm so nervous about it. I keep wondering if I will wake up not banded. Maybe they will find something to prevent me from being banded. I have gallstones that I've never had a problem with and I decided not to have my gallbladder removed. Of course now I keep thinking, will they look at my gallbladder and see that it needs to come out and they'll do that instead of the band? My mind won't stop!!! I've been getting pains here, there and everywhere in my body. I wonder if it's just nerves in a strange sort of way?? I just can't wait to get this over with!

I will keep everyone posted!!!

Sherri

I have heard that some surgeons will remove the gall bladder if needed during the lap band surgery. Maybe you will get two for the price of one!

I wouldn't worry too much, everything will be fine. Good luck!

Best of luck, Sherri! Your surgeon cannot substitue gallbladder surgery for the lapband surgery. But when you signed your consent, it would have stated that if the gallbladder would be removed, if necessary. I will be banded myself on May 2nd - gallbladder already removed 10 yrs ago, but I will have my hiatal hernia fixed while she is in there.... a 2fer!!

My prayers are with you...Rachel

Good luck, they usually don't forget what surgery they are gonna do!!! :welldoneclap:

If you want, you could just write in blue marker on your belly what you specifically want them to do... LOL!

Hi Everyone ! Tomorrow is my day too! at 9:00 am. I am a little nervous... I have gone to meetings, read lots of material but still wonder if I know what I am doing. I am sure I will be asking a lot of questions soon. First one, What did you "drink" in that first week post surgery? What was most helpful to you?

Good luck on both surgeries. My day is tomorrow. I'm not real nervous right now, I really don't know how I feel. Let me know you all do.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
