I everyone, I'm new here. I am 2 weeks post op and am on the soft foods stage. I have been SO emotional lately. So emotional that I ended up crying while grocery shopping yesterday. I'm scared that I made a mistake, while deep down I know I didn't. I'm afraid that I will be eating Greek yogurt and eggs for the rest of my life. I'm struggling with my Protein and Water intake and I'm just hoping that I made the best decision. Any advice would be fantastic. I just want to know that I'm not alone and that this will get better.

I went to the grocery store for the first time since surgery yesterday. I was very sad walking through the produce section. I miss my brussels sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, you name it. I had to just kick myself and keep my eye on the prize, which is better health, moving around without pain, and maybe even cute clothes!

It just takes time and patience to get through these first couple of months. Before you know it you will be able to eat decent meals in appropriate portions and will feel so much better about yourself.

Just be kind to yourself and have a Merry Christmas!

you say soft but I'm assuming you meant like mushy, pureed. I'm only a month out but I ate so much greek yogurt I refuse to touch it anymore.. Try cottage cheese and egg salad and chicken salad. I ate a lot of that during my week of all that. I still eat cottage cheese. I love it. You didn't make a mistake. it will pay off. Being emotional is part of it though. If you think you are emotional now wait til you hit a stall. I stalled after my first week. I think I'm still in a stall but I refuse to weigh because it caused me too much anxiety.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
