I had my first fill last Monday (1cc). I didn't feel anything until 5 days later when I had a stuck episode. For 3 days after this stuck episode I couldn't eat anything, now I can only tolerate liquids. I haven't felt this sad in the entire time I had the lap band. I had surgery in May and have lost 45 lbs. I got the fill because I started to notice I was hungry between meals and was able to eat a lot more. But now I regret getting the fill because now I can't eat anything, at all. And I am really upset. And my drs office is closed until after the holidays. I hate this too tight feeling.

First fill of 1cc and you think you're too tight?

Of course one can never Dx your condition over the internet, and I would not assume to do so also....

But, from my own experience, It can also be that you made a mistake, ate something you should not have,or the wrong way...it is a big learning experience after all..... and "Traumatized" the area...the more you continue to try to eat, the more you aggrevate it....

Of course, we have to eat something....

BUT....Just as one sprains their ankle...if you keep trying to walk normally on it, it keeps staying sprained and does not get any better...

Dr.' office is closed till after the holidays? Take it easy with the food...stay with soft things like Soups and ice creams, etc...and see how you feel when they open...

My last fill, I had many difficulties for 2 weeks...mainly because I did not follow my Dr.'s after fill guidelines at the outset......I called him wanting to get some Fluid taken out...he talked me out out of it...told me to treat it tenderly...I am glad he did...that was over 2-1/2 years ago, and I am at a place..a perfect balance-harmony, that many people will never experience with their bands I am beginning to see....

If I did get some Fluid taken out, then I would not be the happy person I am today....but it took a lot of adjusting on my part....

But then, that is me and my story....

I couldn't have explained it any better. Only for me, what I did when I thought I was to tight, I went and got the fill taken out. Worst mistake I ever made in my life. After 18 months and 35 lbs heavier I finally went back to the dr, now that was the best decision I ever made. I am having to relearn to eat the band way but I am so happy that I went and got a fill. I am back on the losing bandwagon.

Try blending all yoru food to a smoothie condition to contin ue getting your Protein. Its okay to drink your chicken, fish or steak. Just until you get used to it. Greekfat yogurt smoothie with melons, pears, apples. Try it.

Chin up! If you're still too tight by the time your doc returns, just a little reduction in saline should get you back on track. Till then rely on thick Soups so you don't feel hungry and sad. I don't think I've ever been too tight so I can't relate but I would imagine the Holiday is adding to your frustration.

The silver lining is you could drop several lbs by January!!

Thanks for your kind advice. And I think you are right, the holidays are adding to my frustration. As the days go on I seem to be able to eat without as much pain and restriction. Perhaps it was/is irritation to my stomach. And I guess you are right, I should just do what I know is right and eat soft foods and start over again. In the end I'll come out of the holiday season lighter. Thank for your support gang. You truly are fantastic people. Merry Christmas.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
