shamps4all 28 Posted December 25, 2013 Sorry that sucks ..im still preop so I dont have an answer. ...ibuprofen and blood thinners do exacerbate bleeding but two weeks is ridiculous Hi - I am not sure I have a right to post this since I am so new, but I did want to say that previously when I was on a restricted calorie/low carb plan I too experienced menstrual bleeding for about a solid month. My OB and the diet clinic workers weren't too helpful on this, but my Aunt who is a hospice nurse said that (as you stated) the fat cells themselves store up estrogen and as they diminish the estrogen then flows freely, causing the non-stop menstrual bleeding. Mine DID stop...eventually. Just be patient, be prepared at all times and give your body the gift of allowing it to regulate itself.
Wls4me 163 Posted December 28, 2013 Have you talked to your GYN about hormone therapy, birth control pills, IUD to help regulate you? This is something that is very common to a lot of us. Some get relief some don't. Hopefully you can find something that works.
shamps4all 28 Posted January 17, 2014 Have you talked to your GYN about hormone therapy, birth control pills, IUD to help regulate you? This is something that is very common to a lot of us. Some get relief some don't. Hopefully you can find something that works. This is only my opinion, but if you can avoid synthetic hormones I definitely would! I used Seasonique for 3-4 years. I took them back to back and never had periods which my OB said was fine since I wasn't planning on any more children but let me tell you...getting off of those things and getting back to normal was absolute hell. It took months and the emotional turmoil I experienced greatly overshadowed any discomfort or annoyance with the actual menstrual bleeding. I originally got on the pill to prevent pregnancy but also because I was diagnosed with PMDD. Amazingly now that I am off of those pills and my body has regulated itself I don't have the extreme PMDD symptoms. Of course I get a little fatigued and a little moody (or maybe a lot if my husband we're allowed to chime in) but today's fatigue and moodiness don't even compare to the levels I was at when diagnosed with PMDD. In retrospect, I think a lot of it was probably due to poor diet and bad habits. I know I'm rambling on now...but again...if you can find a natural solution, or one that doesn't involve synthetic hormones I think that'd be the way to go. lnelson796 117 Posted January 17, 2014 Ive had the same problem. I'm 7 months out and have been having issues for most of that time. Periods twice as long and heavy as normal, with spotting in between. Ive had two biopsies which have shown no problems besides the elevated estrogen levels. Did a 30 day round of progesterone to try and level it out and it didn't help. Right now im having to keep a menstrual diary for my doctor (yes theres an app for that) and she'll use that to determine the next course of action, which will probably be a d and c. Definitely discuss this with your doctor and start seeing what your options are. Also wouldnt hurt to start documenting it with something like the app I use, My Menstrual Diary, which allows you to document how often as well as what kind of flow so your doctor can see if you're having mostly spotting or mostly heavy flow. Weve also talked about me going back on the pill to control it, but not sure if that will work since the progesterone didn't help. Good luck.
