In the pureed stage, you're looking for the consistency of runny custard. So, make the mash a bit watery with extra milk and perhaps cheese (I struggled with cheese early on) and make sure the chicken is so well cooked, it disintegrates in the gravy like you would see it in canned Soup.

I am not sure about canned 'salad' consistency, because I don't use canned foods.

As for tuna, I think you might find that a bit fibrous. I'd go with the chicken mash and gravy option first and work your way up to the others.

Yep Jim put it in a blender to purée it. It will look funny yes but warmed up, it will be savory and satisfying :)

Yes egg salad is good. Some people have troubles with eggs in the beginning but I never did :)

eggs, to me, sank in my stomach like a brick. Could only eat half an egg - at best.

Roasted meats and veggies and gravy made me feel like a normal human being.

It was the best feeling ever :)

Thanks for this thread... I am 4 days out and I am hungry as well... not sue if real or imagined as a truckload of food just walked into my kitchen for Christmas... but I just stopped and took an acid reducer... hope that helps.

I'm 8 days out and am so glad to be reading this. I need ideas. I just told my family I was going to eat cottage cheese and yogurt. I know that will get old really quickly. I'll check back next week when I hit the mushie phase.

You can blend spaghetti meat sauce with a few cooked noodles too. Or canned beef stew.

Get a rotisserie chicken and some cans of chicken vegetable Soup. Add two cups of the chicken to one can of Soup and purée that. You can do the same with other Soups such as takeaway hot and sour or tom yum soup.

You can also have Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, banana mashed with smooth Peanut Butter (I was told I didn't need to purée the banana but just mash it).

Remember you don't need to worry as much about calories or carbs in the purée phase. You won't eat enough to matter.

That banana and pnut butter sounds heavenly.

It is but you will manage at most half a banana and 1 tsp Peanut Butter and be full!

I'm glad someone mentioned trouble with eggs. I thought that would be s go to soft food but I don't tolerate them well at all. I've tried three times, once egg salad pureed and twice omlet cut up. No bueno.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
