My first major weight drop

Recommended Posts

After coming off an almost 4 week stall, I finally lost 9 pounds this week, bringing my total post op loss (excluding liquid diet) to 21 pounds. My weight loss has been oddly slow and I've been quite discouraged but these last weeks I've been focusing on getting my Protein and liquids in and working out at least 4x a week(even bought fitbit to motivate me). I'm pretty thrilled and motivated to stay track over the holidays. Best Xmas present a girl could ask for :)

  1. Good job, hang in there, I am right at 2 weeks out and struggling to get my Protein and Water in everyday. So far my weight loss is slow but I haven't started to exercise because I haven't been able to get in all of my fluids and I don't want to be dehydrated. Keep it going, and I know it will happen before you know it!

Way to go! Protein, Water, supplements and exercise have been the key for me! Aren't those stair step losses bittersweet? On one hand they feel awesome; on the other hand, don't you just wish you could see incremental losses every day!?

Yeah I think what frustrated me most was on the preop diet I incrementally lost weight everyday 2 pounds 3 pounds etc, I easily did 22 pounds in 10 days so the pace postoperative has really frustrated me but I'm trying to be patient and think positive thoughts. I'm hoping by April/May I've lost a significant amount so will keep plugging away

I don't think it is a must, but hopefully after you have lost some weight it will be less painful for you to exercise, and you can begin an exercise program then. Or consider exercising on low impact machines or the pool at a gym. It's just good to do for optimum health, and will help you to maintain your weight loss.

I'm sitting at about a 4 week stall too. It's very discouraging. I quit weighing a few weeks ago because it was causing me way too much anxiety. I was sleeved on nov 18 and I'm doing everything right so I guess it will come off eventually

I was sleeved the 21st of October. I am currently stalled . I just received a fitbit for Christmas and am hoping it gives me motivation to move more often/). Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good night.

Just remember, even though you weight is not changing, you may be losing inches. Even when I have a stall, my waist size changed. I am five months out and I have lost 96 pounds and I swear there were at least three times when I thought boy I hope I will start losing weight. So don't worry, stick to the program and you will be just fine. Trust me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
