Just got a call from surgeon's office- my date has been moved up from 1/29 to next Monday 12/30 I'm so sappy (that's scared and happy)!!! I feel just a little overwhelmed because I'm so behind on Christmas shopping now I have to add in surgery shopping AND my liquid diet just started. I feel cheated. I didn't get a chance to sneak in that last meal. The only thing I had this morning was a snowman cookie from Starbucks (don't judge me):-)!

Psst. I'll let you in on a secret. You don't need that Last Supper, because you'll be able to have most foods again---someday, albeit in much smaller quantities. Ironically, you will lose your taste or desire for many of them over time and won't even want them later. Being thin and healthy and being in control of your life feels far, far better than most food tastes!

You haven't lost anything by this date change--you just won the weight loss lottery! Congrats! What an exciting way to kick off the New Year!

Good way to think of it. But it's like having someone you love go away for a long period of time. You will miss them a lot. I am stressing about it already also.

When that train of thought starts to leave the station, consider what those "friends" (your favorite foods) have cost you over the years:

-good health

-ability to move quickly and easily

-chances to play effortlessly with your children

-opportunities to do fun things with family and friends

-job opportunities and higher wages

-the ability to shop at regular stores for a wide selection of pretty clothes

-years of great sex and intimacy

-ability to travel easily, fit in airplane seats, & have energy to explore the world

-lots of fun

-and so much more!

With "friends" like this, who needs enemies???

This is why we say success with WLS is 20% due to the tool and 80% "head work". It requires you to re-think a lot of your beliefs and assumptions.

What a wonderful way to start a new year!! I agree on the last supper thing it's nice but honestly a lot of things after awhile u can tolerate in smaller quantities. I thought they were full of it when they told me my tastes would change but it did. I would def be excited the surgery got moved up and it's so worth it. This time next year you will be blown away by just how much your life has changed and health improved. It's awesome and I wish u well!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
