How soon is too soon for another fill

Recommended Posts

Ok long story short. Had my surgery 10/16- went in for first fill dec 2nd. Flipped surgery to correct 12/9. My doc put in 2 ccs on 12/9.

I don't notice much of a difference. I go back first week of January for my port follow up. Is that too soon to ask for another fill? I want to start slow I was thinking maybe asking for 1 cc, just wanted some input

Every doc is different. I was banded the day before you and have already had 2 fills. I go for my third on Jan 6th. My doc sees me every 4 weeks. I had 3 cc's the first fill and a little over 2 cc's the second - in a 10 cc band. I think I need just a little more to be where I need to be. Good luck!

it should all depend on you. are you satisfied with less than a cup of food and stay satisfied for at least 3-5 hours? if you can eat, eat, and eat some more. or need to eat an hour after you have had a meal i would say you need one. hopefully your doctor will know this. some don't.

I'm taking the wait and see approach. I feel I'm still hungry after 1 cup but once I eat I can go hours in between meals. Maybe it's working. I'd guess I'd rather be less filled than too tight. ;)

Hi there, so glad your port issue is all straightened out! On the hunger, I have the other thing going -- I am satisfied on a very small amount of food but hungry again too soon. Today I go for a third fill. It's freezing rain and I'm hoping I can get there alright as my next appointment is not for a couple of weeks and I feel that appetite is turning right up. I was banded 11/5. This is the process -- the figuring it out time. I have really liked not being hungry so I know what it is to have that feeling. I imagine the green zone is similar or better. Best wishes for a nice holiday week!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
