Liquid vitamins post-op?

Recommended Posts

Do any of you guys use liquid Vitamins instead of chewables? I just had my final NUT appointment and I was given a whole bunch of samples of the chewable ones, but they're quite expensive. I buy my Vitamins from a website called swansonvitamins.com and the prices are a lot more reasonable. Swanson has the chewables, but they also have liquid Multivitamins that I thought I might try instead. They also have liquid Vitamin D drops. Any opinions on the liquid ones, good or bad?

Also they sell a sublingual form of Biotin that I'm going to start taking post-op to hopefully protect myself against the hair loss I keep hearing about. You let them dissolve under your tongue so you don't have to chew them.

Swanson is a great company with very fast and cheap shipping. They will also accept returns no questions asked, even if you've used the product already. I highly recommend them.

oh, just remembered...they carry Twinlab's line of bariatric vitamins as well, at a more reasonable price than Celebrate or Bariatric Advantage.

I opted to buy Source of Life Gold liquid that a Pharmacist friend in a Compound Pharmacy highly recommended. You can also get it online, free shipping, at a range of prices. I cannot tolerate the chalky Bariatric Advantage Multivitamins I bought, and I am willing to pay the price of good Vitamins because I want the best health I can get following this surgery. Thank goodness we have a lot of options.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
