Are family members just clueless when it comes to the fact, we can't eat.

Really, my mom just came over to take my son Christmas shopping (he's 17). I asked her to go and get some Gas X, because I keep hearing everyone talk about it on this forum. Wondering what is taking her so long, she then walks in with a box of Popeyes chicken. I was like, why did you bring that here? I have food here for them to eat other child 7. Last Sunday I made 3 different meals for the entire week. One dish is still left. I hate to sound insensitive but that was too much. I just started crying, I feel so bad and then this. I told her they are going to drive around with that in the car. I don't want the smell in the house. These 5 days has been really hard. I'm not happy at all with this.

You have had your surgery? Or pre-op? I cannot tell. Either way, Your Mom was probably trying to be helpful because you have children to feed. You may be understandably a little stressed, so take deep breaths and focus on YOU and what is best for you. You are going to be faced with food and the smells the rest of your life and if you have a good grip on your willpower, you will be more successful in your journey. She may not have known you had food in the house for the kids. Relax and regroup, rest, and have a Merry Christmas!!!

I think they are trying to be supportive the best way they know how.....perhaps she figured providing dinner for the kids would give you a break (maybe?).

I told my husband B/4 surgery: "if I'm not eating, I'm not cooking".....he thought I was kidding........he had a rude awakening LOL

Good luck......with my experience, early out every day was different and filled with challenges, but each day got better and better the further out I was......wishing you the best.

Thanks, I just had surgery on the 17 and it's been really hard. Once I cried I finally felt better, it was like I needed to release some stress.

I had the sleeve 11/18 and my husband 12/2. You are a Mom and that brings different stresses for you, trying to take care of your children and home, and God only knows what else. We are 66 and 67 years old, and I have been shopping and walking for three weeks with great energy, where I was depressed and couch sitting for this past year, being fat and miserable. Trust me, by next week you are going to feel much better. Mentally and physically. I think the fear of the unknown following this surgery scares us. There are so many positive posts here, and answers for almost everything, and good friends to make. Have a wonderful Christmas, and if you need a pickme up just add me as a friend and tell me! Heres a hug......

Thanks so much, I just want to be myself again. I guess I had prepared my mind in thinking I will be back to normal in a couple of days. So this constant pain has really shocked me. I don't think my kids has ever seen me in pain like this. My two c sections were so much better than this and that is what I compared this to....Oooh they are so different. Thank you

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
