Does your Protein have sugar in it? If it has sugar in it and then you mix it with your milk that has sugar your body might be getting to much sugar. I started having issues with my Protein drinks after surgery with gaging on them and throwing them up and getting horrible stomach aches, but I was fine with milk on their own.

I'm currently dealing with Constipation and it's a pain in the butt.

I had dumping syndrome once from too much sugar and it sounds exactly what you are describing, I never once heard that having dumping syndrome gives you a fever. So what I'm trying to say is that you could be having a form of dumping syndrome

I had diarrhea until u was about post op week 5/6. It wasn't until I began puree foods that it changed to actually solid form.

That said...I did dump from sf Torani Syrup. Soon as i took my last drink if the beverage, I was running for the bathroom. I was stuck there for a good hour or more.

The diarrhea from all the liquids wasn't instantly ready to come upon drinking my meals. The dumping was for me.

My nurse said it's very common to have diarrhea like that after WLS because your not eating solids.

I'm 2 weeks post op and I've had the same problem! Only with Protein shakes! I can eat cottage cheese and drink milk and I'm fine but as soon as I drink a Protein Shake it's all over. I've tried lactose, lactose free, soy and soy free. It doesn't matter. I'm in the loo. Only my Protein Shakes. I was drinking New Whey and adding it to Water it seemed to help but it made the water too sweet and I got sick of drinking my water like that. So I've been just drinking plain water and getting my protein from food now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
