Hey, I am 2 months into my program for gastric sleeve. I have 10 more pounds to lose. I have some trouble going to the gym. Not sure what kind of workouts to do ? Can anyone tell me what kind of workouts they were doing before surgery and after surgery ?

How long after surgery did you go back to the gym ?

Thanks in advance for the answers !

Not gonna lie: I was a major potato before my Sleeve.

Now, I can walk around 9+ miles a day -- just in workout.

I'm almost two months out, too.

Currently, I can't afford a gym membership, so all my exercise is walking right now.

I have severe Fibromyalgia and because of the pain I did not work out. My insurance required that I see a personal trainer pre-op. She did not want me to exercise without the approval of a physical therapist. She did give me a package of exercise to show my physical therapist. The physical therapist modified the exercises and I went to therapy for 3 months and now I do the exercises at home.

I started 1 month after surgery.

You can find the handouts on my blog by clicking here. I've been scanning and uploading the package from the personal trainer. You don't need a gym. I use exercise bands, canned vegetables and Water bottles instead of weights. I've been hinting to my children that I would like a set of 1, 3 and 5 pound dumbbells for Christmas

I've noticed my workouts are a lot more intense when I have a workout partner, having someone there to challenge me to that extra mile, extra five minutes, etc. just wish I could find someone that is gym committed in the San Antonio area.

If you feel akward at the gym why don't you try downloading this free app its called C25k which is short for "couch potato to running a 5 k". Its 3 days a week for 8 weeks and it guides you through a training course of walking and running leading up to running a 5k(about 3.2 miles). I am on week 6 and am finding it helpful in breaking through a stall. You don't need a gym membership to get a great workout.

I'm 2 weeks out and although cleared for cArdio by doc I only manage to walk a bit here and there due to fatigue and lack of nutrients at this point

Prior to VSG I was spinning 2-4 times a week and walking jogging 2-3 times per week

I looooooooove to spin and miss it dearly but I don't want to risk fainting so I will attempt to try it again once I get my energy back up during my solid foods stage at the end of January or so .... Can't wait!!!! Spinning with a great instructor and playlist can trump any workout if you ask me!!!!! Best high ever!! Feel like I can fly after each class (: I have taken hot yoga and Zumba and kickboxing/Bootcamp in the past but prefer to spin over any of that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
