sophiepants 489 Posted December 28, 2013 Oh no noooooooooooooooo coffee, next your gonna tell me no sex! I had Decaf coffee and sex today. Counted one as liquids and the other as exercise, and my sleeve is a-ok. Bahahaha Awesome!!!
carstanger 346 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on why we cannot have coffee after being sleeved? I could have Decaf coffee but not regular unless I had gotten in my 64 oz of water! It was Hard to switch before surgery but don't miss it at all now . Caffeine is a diuretic. TheNewSleevedJulie 43 Posted January 15, 2014 I wasn't told we can't have coffee. I was only told to stay away from caffeine because it can make you retain Water and the caffeine can effect your Vit D levels and bone density but that's ALL caffeine... I've never heard of it causing ulcers or other harm
carstanger 346 Posted January 26, 2014 Decaf only and I do fine!!!
LouiseC 1,031 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) I was told coffee was fine. In fact, I had a coffee before I left the hospital. It was a small one, and went cold before I could finish it, but it was coffee! Edited January 26, 2014 by LouiseC
LouiseC 1,031 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) New studies have found that drinking coffee in moderation does not lead to dehydration, that it beneficial for endurance and performance in exercise, and the mild diuretic effect of caffeine is not strong enough to counter-balance the benefits of Fluid intake from coffee consumption. So, a cup of coffee a day can be counted towards your Fluid intake. Yay for coffee! But, yanno, do what your surgeon recommends........ dawalsh 919 Posted January 27, 2014 When I started my pre-op diet I mentioned how I missed my "hi-test" coffee. My doctor gave me the ok to have caffeinated coffee. So, along with my Protein Shake I had my coffee with 2 TBSP of half and half. I have to have my morning coffee. I have a nightshirt that says "give me my coffee. and nobody gets hurt" lol. Still enjoying my coffee. Banded on 12/28/12, down 80 lbs. 60 more to goal!
