SandeeD 363 Posted December 22, 2013 I know it's a shot that you have to inject yourself with to prevent blood clots. Is this standard procedure? I don't know if I could do this.
ribearty 544 Posted December 22, 2013 I am not sure if I received lovenox while I was in the hospital. I know I received shots administered by nurses while I was in the hospital to prevent blood clots. It is something my doctor orders for all his patients. The shots left bruises for a couple weeks post-op and didn't hurt. 1 SandeeD reacted to this
VSG AJH 499 Posted December 22, 2013 My surgeon ordered Lovenox. It's administered in the fat pad of the belly. The nurse in the hospital showed me how to do it when he injected me pre-op, then the next morning, I got another refresher. The syringes are preloaded, and the needle is super tiny and thin. I had to give myself shots for 10 days post-op, and you cannot feel a thing. Honestly, not only no pain, absolutely no sensation at all. Don't let this deter you. 2 SandeeD and kan75251 reacted to this
Carlotta1 401 Posted December 22, 2013 Yes it is.. I never gave myself a shot...but the needle is so tiny thin that u won't feel much. You just pinch some skin/fat around the belly and inject. You will alternate sides from one day to another, left and right, . I think I had 14 shots to give myself. No prob what so ever. foe per day. 1 SandeeD reacted to this
