I'm Feeling good. Aiming for 80g Protein daily. Don't think I'll ever be able to get it without a protein shake/protein bar.

I am on my 8th week post op. Down 35# from sleeve date 1/4/14

My question is about solid foods. Is it to early? I try small bits of chicken but it sticks there and causes presure in my stomach. I just go back to Protein Shakes and puried foods. But I'm not getting my allotment of protein in and I'm feeling tired most days. How many weeks/months are you all waiting to add solid foods?

I started regular food (according to doctor) after 6 weeks. Are you chewing thoroughly? Are you taking 30 or more mins to eat? Are you overeating? You should probably reevaluate your eating habits. I think you should be close to or should be eating regular foods by now.

I do tend to chew foods well...but forget to set the fork down between bites.. but don't get more than 2 or 3 bites before the feeling of restriction hits..then i have to stop eatting for about 20 min. And normally just give it up till my next effort to eat. (I don't get hungry..i just try to get my Proteins in)

Your input was very helpfull. If i need to take a half hour to eat...i definitely need to wait longer between bites. Thank you.

I've been eating regular foods for a couple of weeks also with no problem. I just take tiny bites and chew them about 30 times. I'm still only able to hold about 1/4 cup of food, which is fine. I get a hiccup when I'm full so I don't take another bite when that happens. I also have to do at least one Protein shake a day to get in all the Protein. We are 7 weeks out now and I'm down 47 lbs. But I have a lot to lose, so the weight will come off slowly pretty soon. With a bad knee, I am not able to exercise much yet. I think once I have 100 lbs. off, I will be able to do that more easily.

I'm glad to hear the rest of you are doing well also.

Hello everyone I was sleeved on 1/14. I am now down 27lb, from week 6-7 I only loss 1.4 lbs,I was hoping to be at 30lb loss at the end 0f my 7 week. I have started working out and I have noticed inches shedding off but the scale is not moving. I am having a problem with getting all my Protein and liq. requirements in. I try to eat more but the full feeling is a horrible feeling.

Hi hang!

Well I'm down 30 pounds since day of surgery. I'm happy. I was hoping for more by now but I have to concentrate on the fact that it is coming off, I feel a thousand time better since the removal of my lap-band and I'm doing what I'm supposed to....for the most part!

I think the only thing I am still doing wrong is eating faster than I should. 20 minutes is the average.

I have a Protein Shake just about everyday.

Have a great day everyone!

That is a great discovery! I don't weigh myself anymore but I do notice when I'm rushing I make bad food choices. I take either a Protein shake or bar with me everywhere I go now.

Happy 8 week surgiversary! How's everyone doing?

Happy 8 weeks to you too doneganregime1!! It sure seems like longer than that to me.

dim59 Did you take your measurements before? I find that sometimes when the scale isn't moving the inches are. I've lost 8 inches on my hips, on my waist and 5 on my bust.

I think sometimes our bodies need to take a break and change things up.

My NUT said if you aren't eating enough your weight loss will slow down also. She recommended 800 cal. a day now. I'm still having to do 2 shakes a day to get in enough Protein. I don't see any other way with the lilttle bit we can eat. Maybe in time our stomachs will hold a bit more food and we can cut back on the shakes.< /p>

I'm glad to hear you are all doing so well.

I just wanted to pop in and ask if you can believe this is our 2 month surgiversary?? Yowza! The time has flown by, yet it seems I've been sleeved for a long time. As if this morning, I'm down 49.2 pounds - 30.2 since day of surgery.

I hope you're all doing great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
