Hi everyone :)

I was sleeved on Dec 4 and tomorrow I start purée food (yay!). How much (volume) did you start eating when you moved to purée? And what did you eat? My list says "apple sauce consistency" and includes things like dark chicken, cottage cheese and canned meats. Does that mean I purée those items as they are? I imagine chicken won't purée to Apple sauce consistency on it's own. Did you mix it with something? And again, how much were you able to eat at first?

Thank you!!!

I ate about 1/2- 3/4 cup at a time depending on the consistency. You might want to try low calorie, low fat sauces to puree or eat with meats. Also, chicken or beef broth help to smooth it out. Spaghetti sauce is great to puree with chicken and add some low fat mozzarella cheese melted on top.

Yum! That sounds good. I'm so excited to have different flavours and textures tomorrow. Did you have canned tuna? What did you mix with it?

If the chicken isn't smooth, add a little chicken broth. Yes blend tuna salad too. You can blend spaghetti sauce with ground beef (already cooked) and a little cheese. You can reheat pre-blended mixtures in the microwave. You can also add unflavored Protein powder and cheese to mashed potatoes. I blended banana with a little Peanut Butter. Or canned peaches with cottage cheese. Canned refried Beans work well too.

Don't worry much about calories yet. I was lucky to get 400 in purée.

Thanks Misty!

I tried starting with a bit of oatmeal and Protein powder but I couldn't handle the taste. But it didn't matter because after trying 2 teaspoons I felt full.

I had som greek yogurt mixed with cottage cheese for lunch and the blended some chicken, a bit of broth and a tablespoon of spaghetti sauce. It was sooooo good. But again, full after only a few bites.

I will try banana and Peanut Butter for Breakfast and then tuna for lunch with the left over chicken for dinner.

I guess I will be able to eat a bit more everyday until I get to about half a cup per meal?

A friend of mine bought some little jars of baby food. Just an idea.

You might be at half a cup by 6 months or so. Or you might be able to hold more or less. You don't have to eat to the stuffed point and just know we are all different.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
