New to LBT from MICHIGAN the mitten

Recommended Posts

Hello i am new to LBT. i have just started my process of going through the lap band surgery. I have done everything that needs to be done, now just waiting on approval from insurance. This is my main concern as i am sure you all know insurance companies dont like to let go of their money.

Just a little info about myself: I am 39 years old happily married to a wonderful man who is very supportive to the lap band process, mother of two children 13 and 11 years old. I have been overweight for about 11 years since the birth of my youngest child. Baby fat never came off and i probably never tried very hard. My health is my main reason for going through this process and secondly i need to feel better about myself.

So far this web site is just wonderful with loads of information. HELLO to all!!:)

Good Morning, I just wanted to jump in and say "hello" and welcome to LBT. Although I have lived in Florida since I was 14, I was born and raised in Michigan!

Have you had your consultation yet?

I have had my consultation and my pysc evaluation also. my next step is to wait for the office to call and let me know if i have been approved through my insurance, I am assuming. Maybe i shouldnt assume. I might call the office to see what i need to do next. :welldoneclap:

Hi Susan! My DH really wants to move back to Florida (he lived there for a number of years (Destin area), but I just LOVE Michigan, I think I'd melt in the heat. :flame:

jssmitty: from what I've now heard from several others around here, you need to keep on them. Apparently the office is really disorganized. I've decided to keep copies of everything and if need be, I'll submit it to the insurance company myself.

Hi jsmitty67, glad to see you here also! I have met faithmd also. Yes, you have to keep on them to get anything done! Don't wait for them to get it done. I am scheduled for surgery on April 12. Can't wait!! I start my pre op meals (liquid) on April 4th. There are getting to be a lot of April bandsters here. Maziemommy also started her 2 week liquid diet, I know it is gonna be rough, but she is a strong person, and so are we, and together we will all get through this!!!

And even if they tell you it is done, double check it. They are not good with those sorts of things.... ;)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
