If anyone who gets this operation and doesn't have misgivings I would say cancel the operation and get psychiatric therapy instead. This is a big move, our sense of self-preservation both gets us into this and makes us question whether to go through with it. It's not real until it happens..it's happening.

Most of the battles I have been in were not as bad as the contemplation of them before they started.

Hang on, DreaE, you got this.

I think my second guesses are only coming from the fact that everyone I talk to (no matter how supportive) are asking me; "are you sure you want to do this?" I have no reservations I just wish I would hear that question less lol

Thank you for the support!

I had just one day of a preop diet & I still want to eat, I can't imagine more than one day of Clear Liquids with the appetite I have now.

I had a two week pre op diet but it was like any other diet Ive tried over the years, grilled chx, veggies, fruit, but instead of listening I felt I needed to get in all my fav foods before I could never eat them again! So im just worried theyre gonna weigh me in the morning and not be happy that I havent lost weight. And Im honestly SOOO ready for the surgery and to get healthy and to be happy about myself, the thing Im most stressed about is post-op and all the mental changes!!! I think youll do great and your decision is yours! Ive refrained from telling a lot of people besides close family and friends bc I dont want nor need any negativity! Weve got this girl!! We can help each other through the journey!!

I was thinking about the Jerry Springer shows I have seen. Some lady comes on with a jerk husband and the audience yells, "Dump him!" They can't understand her reluctance. Why? They don't feel what she feels.

You have gone through much with your weight problem. You didn't jump into this on a whim, you have much good reasoning behind it. You are motivated and determined, you have the courage to make a move like this. The folks that ask you, "Are you sure you want to do this?" do not come from where you do. They can't feel what you feel, they don't know what you know, they don't have the guts that you have mustered up. All they are saying is..."That is scary!"...I wouldn't do it". Of course not, they have not been prepared by life and intelligence like you have.

Ladies, best of luck to you both today. You're in my thoughts and prayers, and I'm holding out a hand to the loser's bench. I crossed over on 12/9 and it's one of the best choices I've made. I'm so glad I it. It hasn't been easy, but I didn't expect it to be. You are worth the fight.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
