No restriction 3 weeks post surgery

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Nov. 22. After the first week, I began getting hungry more and more often. I have found that I can pretty much eat anything I want, and I am struggling with not doing just that. I have my first fill on Dec. 26. Is this normal? Other than the port under my skin, I cannot tell that I have had lapband surgery.

Same here. You probably don't have any Fluid in your band. I go Jan 3rd for my first fill. I can def eat more than I should but I stop when satisfied and I'm trying to pick the right foods. From what I keep reading here and on my FB group we may need 3-4 fills before we feel the restriction. Good luck on your fill!

You wont get much from your band till it's adjusted properly. Till then this will be just another diet!

for the first month and half i didn't have a fill. i was eating an entire steak without problem. i didn't have this site to tell me just because you can eat doesnt mean you should. i am learning now and sometimes i get stuck because i didn't practice this from the beginning. i think the motto here s/b exactly what i said, just because you can doesn't mean you should. practice keeping your food intake to less than a cup of food per meal. if you need to snack, keep them high in Protein. you will be hungry between meals until you have a proper fill in your band and that takes time. so good luck you will do great!

What is different now than before??? You're probably going to have the same hunger and cravings,,,,sure, you had the band installed, but is has not been "Activated" yet....right now your still in your recovery period.....

THEN the adjustments begin....can take many visit, many adjustments, perhaps much frustration and some hard to lessons to learn....

It took me 4 months, then at lest another 2-3 to figure it what what happening, adjust, and settle into that "Groove"

It was the HARDEST, most FRUSTRATING time for this entire process...took a lot of hard work, determination and self discipline to get through it....I really thought it was a big waste of time and $$...

Fortunately I did "Endure" it, did not back down, learned my lessons and modified my behavior....I had to change to be able to live with the band.....

And I'm glad I did...coming out the other side, I can now say this is the BEST, and EASIEST weight loss lifestyle I could ever imagine...

I am a different person now...with a new Lifestyle...but it was a process to get here...and it was not overnight....

Follow your Dr.'s treatment plan...do as others do to be successful, not what they say, and don't let the negative non-believing people get you down.......THIS THING DOES WORK!!!!!

well said terry.......

*i am one of the lucky ones who has restriction with the band itself (and the added plication)....but i know if i wanted to and tried, i could eat way way way more....but i stop.....i eat when hungry and stop when full/satisified....the band does that for me and it will you also......(i dont by the its a diet til filled as i have no fills and i do not diet)

Same with me I have lost 16lbs since surgery which was only a week ago Dec 12th!! I feel full all the time.. It's amazing how much food your body really DOESNT need. I feel like I have been eating close to nothing at all daily... broth and a few sips of Protein Shakes when I can.. I am still recovering but I have so much energy it's amazing!! So excited for this journey!!

Yes, normal, but, I don't know about you, I had restriction of sorts following my surgery, before my fill. I guess, as carolingirl said, I was lucky, too! I know I had restriction, because I had my first pb while not having a fill! Be careful what you wish for! Bets wishes, try to calm down! your 1st fill will be here soon! Karen...aka..kll724

Measure your food and only eat that amount even though you can eat more. You will be preparing your self for when you need it.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
