I have My EGD tomorrow and my last Appt with the Nut next Thursday. After that we will submit paper work to the insurance for approval. I am nervous about the EGD but sure it won’t be that big of a problem.

The closer I get to the final step the more I wonder if this is the right thing to do. I am sure everyone felt this way at least once right?

I am also a little worried because the required diet I have not done well on my weight has been yo-yoing like it always does. I plan on doing a 3 day Protein shake diet starting Sunday to try and lose a few extra pounds.

Just think I am getting nervous about the whole thing.

Don't spend one minute sweating the EGD. The IV was the worst part.

Sassy Pants1 is right...the EGD is not that big of a deal...you'll do fine. As far as nerves, I think we all have initial doubts...no matter how much research you do, there's always a little apprehension about 'the unknown'. As long as you're doing what you're doing for the right reason, you should be good! I'm waiting on my surgery date, and the only thing I'm nervous about right now is the procedure itself, and how 'gassy' I'll be immediately afterwards! Oh and for the record...most likely the last appointment with the NUT will not be the last...they will be an important part of your post-op.

A sane person would naturally be nervous in your situation. I was semi- nervous......uh,oh. :D

Take advantage of the EGD like a dry run for the Sleeve. If will serve to show you all those butterflies are unfounded. You'll be much better prepared with less pre-op jitters for later with the sleeve surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
