Hi there, so happy for you! I am six weeks post-op and thrilled. Not just with the weight loss (yippee!) but the release from obsessing about food. I feel free and like it's all so much easier now. Love my band!

Cannot emphasize enough the importance of walking post-op. I had a one night hospital stay and every time I felt like I had to pee, which was fairly frequent, I'd get my IV pole and cruise the hallways, a little further each time. Then back to bed, nap, pee and walk, walk, walk. Same at home, round and round the driving circle. This helped shrug off the anesthesia and kick my body into healing mode -- it was like my body knew what to do: walk! I went without the prescription pain meds as I didn't want the side effects of narcotics. Tylenol and Ibuprofen worked well for me but every one is different. If you take pain meds be sure to take something for Constipation.

You have such a positive attitude -- that's the real healer right there!

Well I made it y'all ! Was quite a ride but I think the worst is over! Had surgery at 10:00 am Thursday, waking up in recovery I thought I was having a heart attack, the pains in my chest were awful they ran all the test to make sure it wasn't , it was gas! That was the worst experience ever ! I had to spend the night, they had to fix my hiatal hernia before he could band me. Didn't get any rest the entire hospital stay. I stayed nauseated the entire time too which I think was gas and ended up vomiting about 3 times. It was a rough go, I spent my hospital time sipping Water, walking, resting over and over, they finally brought me a suppository so I could get things moving and get home , success!! I got home and the nausea and vomiting got worse so another day of sipping water , walking around the house and resting. I would get this awful burning sensation in my tummy every time I would sip water which really scared me , I couldn't even keep water down! I just laid in bed and bawled! Well day 4 is here and so far so good, just a tad nauseated and the burning sensation is pretty much gone. Water is staying down, even took a couple sips of coffee this morning! Yay!! So I pray the worst is over and it is all an upward climb now! One good thing is I am down 10# since I started pre-op liquid diet. My belly is just a slight bit sore, the worst out of all of it was getting sick!

So thanks for all of the thought and prayers y'all I am officially a Bandita now, yay!

So sorry you had all that nausea -- that will be something to note if you ever have another surgery as clearly that anesthesia does not agree with you! Glad you are home and settling in. I hope you can take it easy the next few days. I had a hiatal hernia repair, too. I think that's another reason why I'm now feeling so great -- probably that was causing me troubles for quite a while. For a long time I had a coin-shaped pain spot on my chest and it makes sense that was referred pain from the HH as it is gone now. I had a few ER episodes with chest pain and all the tests, etc. to rule out heart problems so I know how nerve-wracking that can be -- must have been horrific just out of surgery to have to go through that along with throwing up, just what we don't want to do! The good news is not only do you have your band now but you know your cardiac profile, too. Nice to know your hear is fine!

Do you like ginger tea? That can be very soothing for nausea. Hope you feel better soon -- thanks for keeping us posted!

Hope you are feeling better as the day goes on. I would make sure that all that is recorded in your medical records for future reference. As Bandista says, you may have a problem with the anesthesia. Keep us posted on your recovery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
