I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your boss, who was also a good friend to you. I know losing someone, especially out of the blue, can be very hard.

Hi guys! I haven't been on my journal here in a few days, but I definitely still get on my app and read Current Threads. I know this has been commented on several times on threads, but now being a month post op (on Tuesday), I've noticed more and more how the majority of the people using this app are still Pre-Op. It's weird, most people tend to disappear once they've had their surgery. I can see that they probably don't want the surgery to rule their life like their weight has for so many years so maybe they branch out?? Anyway, this week has been extremely rough. My district manager (direct boss) that I had such a great relationship passed away suddenly in his sleep while in a hotel room out of state. He was 40 years old and healthy. Those types of things shake you to the core. No rhyme or reason and sometimes life just doesn't make sense. The reason why I'm bringing this up is because this is the first time since the surgery that I've been faced with EXTREME STRESS AND SADNESS. Typically, those two things would cause me to spin out of control eating every fattening thing in sight. Emotional eating at it's finest. This is where the sleeve has really come in handy. Again, it kind of just goes back to the "your sleeve is a tool, not your magic pill" statement. It kept me from eating carbs, fried food, and sugar (in fear of throwing them up). I definitely thought about it though.... Anyway, I digress. On the weight loss front, I officially hit the 30 lbs lost mark as of yesterday! I've dropped one jean size (tight 20 to a perfect 18 fit) so I just ran to Target and bought a cute pair on clearance for $13.00! I'm almost tempted to go buy the 16's while they still have them since they are so cheap! Well, that's about it... 2014 has started out rough but I know that there are good things to come! :)

Dreams....so sorry for you loss! I know you'll get through it and we are here to help! So proud of you for recognizing your area of weakness. Once you recognize, that's half the battle! Congrats on the weight loss and GO GET THOSE JEANS!!!!!

Thank you ALL for such kind words during this hard time. As much as I'm hurting, it's that poor family that I continue to send prayers to. I can't imagine! On another note, you guys have all talked me into it... I'm going to Target today to buy those jeans! :) It's a funny feeling because if any of you are like me, we have all purchased items of clothing that are just a bit too tight and we always tell ourselves "oh it will fit perfectly when I lose just 10 more pounds"... Well this time, I feel pretty darn good about buying a complete size down! :)

Today was my 1-month Post Op check, which is the first time I have seen my surgeon since surgery. I first met with a dietician and we just went over basic stuff- are you getting Protein in, Vitamins taken, liquids kept up, etc... Then I went upstairs and when my surgeon walked in, he said "Well, how much are you loving the sleeve?! You look amazing and you have cheekbones!" Haha... I told him to not let that fool him, it could very well be my new NARS blush! :). He had a lot of nice things to say about me, which was nice to hear! Also, HE SAID I DIDNT HAVE TO TAKE MY CARAFATE ANYMORE!!! Thank goodness! That stuff is horrible! Oh, and I weighed this morning and I was exactly 245.0. My highest weight was 277 so I am down 32 lbs in a month. I'm happy with my progress so far and it appears I'm just getting out of my 3 week stall. That's all for now, just thought I would journal a bit today! :)

Hello everyone! I haven't been on here in a few weeks, as I've been traveling for work and basically had no free time. I did weigh myself this morning and officially hit the 40 lb. lost mark! It's been a month and a half and I'm thrilled with that number. I know everybody is different, but I've been reading so many people who complain about "only" losing X amount of pounds and they are constantly comparing themselves to others. I always want to ask those people, "Have you been working out like crazy?" I have been doing weights and walking a lot and I think that has helped tremendously! Last week, I was in Arizona for meetings and it was challenging to look like a "normal eater" since nobody knows about the surgery. No drinking and obviously taking in very little food probably throws up some red flags, so I made sure to move food around on my plate, give the waitress my plate when nobody was looking, etc… I'm getting good at these little tricks. :) One observation that I made while on my trip is that I cannot handle ice cream. One night, I took a small bite of vanilla ice cream and about 5 minutes later, I had to go to the bathroom and throw it up. About 4 days later, I took a bite of green tea ice cream (you would think I learned my lesson but I told myself maybe it wasn't the ice cream) and again, 5 minutes later, I was in the bathroom and it came back up. Anyway, that's all for now! I just wanted to check in and give an update. I hope whoever reads this is doing well in their journey!

Just wanted to give an update as today is my 3 month anniversary of my surgery! I weighed myself this morning and I've lost EXACTLY 60 lbs on the dot! I am so thrilled with my results and I wish I would have done this surgery 5 years ago (and I just turned 28)! It's crazy to think it was only 3 months ago because it feels like it's been years since I went through it! I'm getting compliments like crazy and I can't wait to see many more changes in the upcoming months!!

I've never posted before - hope this works. I felt compelled to say this must be amazing for you - well done! If I'm correct that's around 30 kilos or standard house bricks you have released there. I truly hope I can do as well as you. Keep going :-)

Dreamscometrue- I just found this posting and read it from the beginning of your journey till today. I love reading your updates. I hope you continue to log your journey for all of us to see. I plan on having the sleeve in May and am pretty nervous. I have one more nutritional counseling meeting next week and then I'm set to start my preop testing. I'm going on vacation in April so the doctor suggested I wait till I get back which would be the end of April beginning of May. I read about all these great journeys but I'm always so worried about complications for me. Keep up the great work on this journey of yours and good luck to you!!! It would be great to post some pictures of your journey and see how far you've come along.

Dreamscometrue - Like littlelaura said above, I also just found your post and find it very motivating. I haven't gotten my surgery date yet, but have been reading the forums because of all the valuable information they contain. I've been having second thoughts because unlike you, I will be a revisional surgery from lap band to GSV. I had the lap done surgery 11/1/2011 and only lost 40 lbs.and just worried that I won't be successful with the sleeve either. I haven't found many people who continue to post here "post surgery", so I really want to thank you for taking the time to do this. I know it is probably very therapeutic for you, but it is very helpful for those like me... still working towards having my surgery. I know you will continue to be successful, and wish you much luck on your journey.

Oh my gosh, thank you all for such amazing support! Hearing the word "inspiration" makes me so happy because for so long, I looked on this website/app researching and reading success stories and was never really sure if I could do it like those people. As for your revision, I'm sure that can be quite scary worrying that you won't lose the weight, keep it off, etc... BUT, you have to think positively! The minute I got my surgery date, I found this newfound hope that I had never had before! I've lost crazy amounts of weight over the years but could never sustain the weight loss, but with the sleeve, it is like HEAVEN! I can now eat anything (I don't obviously, but it doesn't make me sick if I have a bite of something, however, I get full after just a few bites. Perfect example: sushi is my favorite food. After surgery, I felt like I was going to have to give it up for forever! I used to be able to eat 3-4 rolls just by myself... That's like 24-30 pieces!!! Now, I can't eat more than 2 pieces of sushi and I feel the same fullness as I would have before surgery! Best of luck to each of you who has a surgery date, waiting for one, or those post-op like myself! I posted a pic earlier, but will post it on this thread in case anyone is interested!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
