Greenize42 62 Posted January 10, 2014 i just tried beef ravioli and it was great, easy to eat and easy on my pouch plus i could eat more then i can other stuff. I gave up for now trying to eat normal food going back to soft foods for now. Wait, we can eat Pasta? I thought that wasn't allowed. I am so confused on what to eat. Like I eat protien only....I never have room for anything else. Like dinner tonight I took 2 slices of lean turkey from the deli, mixed it with some plain greek yogurt, sprinkled some garlic powder, dried onions and some shredded cheese. It was decent...but that was it....a 1/3 of a cup pretty much. Breakfast was one scrambled egg and lunch was greek yogurt with protien powder mixed in....am I eating right? So confusing!! Your eating right! I was not told I could have bread the gastric bypass but if they have the sleeve they prolly can have it! I tried Greek yogurt today and threw it in the garbage it was yucky to me ! I am gonna go look at the website theworldaccordingto egg face to get some ideas I food! Pasta, rice , sticky white breads are not allowed for me until after 3 months but I can eat many other things .. Just not more than 1/2 cup. X 4 meals .. If I eat more I just spit it up ( not really vomiting ) but it is like my pouch says " nope" ! Gotta measure it or my belly sounds like a train going through ( no pain though) RNY on Nov 18 .. Down 47 :-)
chellee1971 1 Posted January 10, 2014 Hi, I'm 3 weeks 5 days post op today. When I was 2 weeks and 4 days out, at my 1st follow up appointment, my surgeon said I could try soft foods. My problem from the start has been thinking about my pre op favorite foods. Almost obsessively I think. Now that he gave me the green light on soft foods I try to twist my meals into my cravings. 1st fat free refried Beans mixed with pico de gallo salsa with sour cream and avocado, about 1/2 cups goes down really well so then I took cream of mushroom Soup added green Beans, garlic powder, and soy sauce, to mock green bean cassarole and it goes down so easy (I chew chew chew the green beans) so then I took pureed tuna, avocado, cheese crumbles, and soy sauce, 1/2 cup went down easy but then caused me great sickness for hours afterward, with the dry heaving and everything. but still I continued! Then next day I made buffalo chicken dip with greek cream cheese and canned chicken, red hot sauce and regular ranch dressing. I ate about 3/4 a cup and it caused me great sickness again for several hours but still anyways later that night I had the ultimate: about 1/4 of a mexican pizza from Taco Bell which didn't taste like it did preop so I was very happy something finally did not taste good. I just don't know what to do to stop this. I'm thankful that most things make me sick. It's just ridiculous that I'm putting myself through it. Everyone here is doing so well sticking with their prescribed diet plans. Also, I am now thinking I am feeling hunger. It was so great not having hunger. Is anyone struggling like me? Everyone here is doing so well sticking with their prescribed diet plans. Also, I am now thinking I am feeling hunger. It was so great not having hunger. Is anyone struggling like me? It is so hard...I am almost a month post op. I avoid fat and sugar like the plague!! Fear is what helps me, I do not want to get sick. I also don't want to have done this for nothing...it is all in your brain. You need to fight the urges and remember why you did this in the first place. I'm not trying to be all preachy but it is a struggle...no one ever said this was an easy fix. You have to be a food nazi and think about everything you put in your mouth. You can do this!! We all can. We need to not make the hasty decisions that we did in the past that got us to this point. We are all stronger than that. I'm not saying there aren't days where I feel like I would lich chocolate off the floor if it was there....but I fight it. I haven't had sugar in 2 months....and sugar was my jam, I had a super sweet tooth. Long story short Chellee....you can do this!!! Fight the urges!! 1 Mkmb2006 reacted to this
Getting-used-to-new-me 119 Posted January 10, 2014 Hopingnomeds, sorry to hear about ur visit back to the hospital. Praying tht all is well and the worst is over Thanks Ghopeful! Prayers truly make the difference! I feel a lot better today and have some of my ruddy complexion back. The hospital staff say I've passed a lot of old blood during the night. And that I look much better, instead of looking like a yellow cadaver as I did yesterday.

I too am having head hunger and I am on soft food! one thing I am liking is the restriction even though I would love to eat more I can't . try to find something you like that is healthy like baked fish etc. But like you what I wouldn't give to have a burger and fries from mcdonalds! So I know there is swelling from surgery and all that, but when should I actually start to see progress? Getting a little anxious ... I didn't lose anything the first week...then I started losing 3-4 lbs a day. It has slowed a bit now...its more like a pound a day now. I had surgery 12/17. mcmann1 7 Posted January 11, 2014 I had to take a year of going to the clinic, seeing nurses and dieticians before my surgery. They are very strict. I had to loose 10% of my extra weight before i could have the surgery. After surgery I was four weeks clear fluids, then four weeks fluids, now on soft foods, or puraid foods. I was told only to eat about 2 tbsp for now so a person wouldnt get sick. Also for the rest of my life no more carbonated drinks it is hard on the pouch and could damage it. Sugar or sweets gives me a feeling a sluggish and only way to make it go away is to sleep. bread is also bad but I was told toast is ok in time when I am more like months from now.I still do mostly fluids they say anything that can run off a spoon, it seems to be the best for not being sick. Hope that helps some of you. I too get where I want stuff and regret it if I try regular food thinking i can chew it enough..it isnt worth the pain.
