lettuce and olives for me. Love cucumbers but they have to be peeled and I prefer no seeds. Tomatoes sometimes make me slightly uncomfortable.

I'd like to know about salad friendly ingredients as well! I'm pre op but am a vegetarian and I eat a very plant based diet.

Ok it's official I hate everything today tried Mahi Mahi, chili, Peanut Butter, tuna either it hurts or I hate it after one bite

Why does it seem like my ability to tolerate food is going backwards? I ate all of the above before without any issues.

Finicky a-- pouch! Sorry had to vent

I have had the same issue. Everything I could eat before is a no go. It's miserable.

Welcome! I was vegan pre-surgery. But since then I've tried to get in the Protein however possible. I'm leaning back toward lacto-vegetarian, eating legumes and dairy for the protein. I just have such a hard time with pouch pain and meats. My nut says it's impossible to get enough vegan- only protein. The veggies I tolerate now are all soft, like tomatoes. I'm thinking my salads will be mostly soft, diced tomatoes with other soft, diced veggies.

I'm with you on all but chili. I like it in half-cup quantities, eaten slowly.

It'll pass, eventually. Pouch pain is the biggest pain of all.

How much weight are you losing on average a week? Just curious. I had my surgery on 12/16. I've lost 30 pounds since surgery (50 since the pre op diet). So I'm averaging around 6 pounds a week. Feels like it's coming off so slowly.

I was averaging nearly a pound a day, but I've starting exercising five times a week, so my weight loss has slowed. Since my surgery on 12/19, I've lost 25, totaling 45 since pre-op. I'm getting very impatient at the slow loss!!

I am also having a problem getting in all of my Protein. So the last time I went to the doctor, I purchased a can of Unjury unflavored Protein Powder. You can put it in anything. It doesn't change the taste or the consistency of what you are eating or drinking. It is a wonderful addition to my kitchen where I wage the war of protein every day. Lol

This weekend I was very brave. I made myself a veggie sandwich. It was out of this world. The different textures and flavors of all the different veggies was a party for my taste buds. I used a seven grain bread sliced very thin and toasted. I had iceberg lettuce, spinach, olives, red onion, avocado, and tomatoes. Just a smidgen of mayo and a splash of red wine vinegar. It took me a while to eat the whole thing but it was well worth it. This has been the first thing that has awakened my taste buds and sat well in my pouch all at the same time.

I am a huge fan of Unjury protein. Each morning I put a scoop of Unjury chocolate Splendor AND a scoop of Unjury Unflavored to make a 42g Protein Hot Chocolate! Good start to getting protein in!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
