in regards to chicken what i do sometimes is cook it then put it through a food processor it shreds it so thin it never bothers me when i do that. I find for me I have to biggest issues when I have to chew the table foods and I am not paying attention to how fast or how much I chew it. So stuff I think might bother me a process it in the chopper to be safe.

How much weight are you losing on average a week? Just curious. I had my surgery on 12/16. I've lost 30 pounds since surgery (50 since the pre op diet). So I'm averaging around 6 pounds a week. Feels like it's coming off so slowly.

Speaking of chicken, every time it causes pouch pain. I think it's because it ends up being too dry, or the meat fibers might be too long. I don't know. Any ideas on how to prepare it so it doesn't cause pain?

I can't do chicken at all, except ground. My nut suggested chicken salad made very moist but even that didn't help for me. Maybe it will for you...

I have lost 42 lbs since pre op and 37 since surgery I think! Everyone is different because of age etc etc. I try not to dwell on the weight kiss factor too much or else it would drive me crazy!

I enjoy flounder and I pan seat it with a little olive oil an.d just a dash of flour on both sides! I can also eat catfish but I have only eaten this out! I don't know how to blacken it! I tried the warm drink to soothe pouch and my pouch still wants to act up when I eat!

I'll have to try that. Almost any white fish was the easiest to eat pre-surgery.

I just bought tuna steaks to try tonight...I honestly have never had it. I have never been a fish person. We shall see.

Toast?! You're brave LoL...I'M so afraid to try bread.< /p>

Yesterday a co-worker wanted to have lunch with me at Subway. He knew I couldn't eat like him, because of my RNY. I decided to try the oven roasted chicken sandwich. Since it's Subway's Janu-ANY promotion, I got a foot long. I had them toast the bread TWICE as long as normal. I ate two very small bites while at the restaurant. It took the rest of the day, but I finished it! It even had shredded lettuce and Tomato. That was all the veggies I wanted to experiment with. I did have pouch pain at a couple of small bites halfway into the sandwich. But mostly it was reassuring that I might be able to eat the things I liked pre-surgery. Just in TINY quantities! And with a lot of time between those tiny bites.

My NUT said to try it in Soup. The fat from an Alfredo could make you dump. I poached mine with garlic and lemon, and it was soft and yummy.

I'll have to try that. Thanks!

December buddies, I'm getting really frustrated with up chucking every other food I try. I think I'm actually getting turned off of food. That itself is AMAZING. I'm grabbing my Protein Shake and saying the hell with it!

I've concluded that I'll most likely have to keep drinking Protein Shakes for the rest of my life. I'm trying the Protein shake recipes on theworldaccordingtoeggface's blog to add variety.

Thanks but I tried the chicken salad and I guess the pieces just aren't small enough, even after I chew them 30 times each. There's just something about chicken that doesn't work with me right now. Maybe ground chicken.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
