Hi, I had really bad gas after I had my gallbladder removed about 10 years ago, but with the gastric bypass it got even worse (if possible!). Poor husband puts up with it but when I worked in an office I was kind of the "butt" of jokes about it. Now I will try your suggestions!

I thought I was the only one! I get gas more often but not really a lot but they are horrible in smell and not to be gross but so is the bowel movements. I have horrible problems with being able to go due to the Vitamins and so sometimes i have to use a stool softener to help and then oh boy watch out as soon as I fart and it smells like the living dead I know to get to the bathroom. LOL

Well, I don't have a cure for the gas; but I have found something interesting. Here lately I have had this uncontrollable urge to eat oranges and drink orange juice. I don't know what is going on with that, but it seems like I just can't get enough. One thing that I have noticed since my orange fascination, is that the gas doesn't have that horrific smell any longer. I know that this is not a long term cure , but I will take what I can get for now. And so will my family. Lol

I never played a band instrument in high school, but after surgery I apparently learned how to play the trumpet. Who knew? :o

I had the RYN surgery last Thursday. I had nausea at first which was attributed to the hydromorphone they gave me in the pain pump. Now that the nausea and dry wretching is done, I have noticed a lot of gas, painful gas. Some say it is because of the CO2 they pumped me up with, but almost 5 days later, every sip I take I have a huge gas bubble that gets lodged and I have to painfully burp it out. I am even taking chewable gas pills to help with it. It doesn't smell yet (my husband and kids would let me know) but the pain I am experiencing the most of is from the gas moving around. Any suggestions on how to best rid myself of it besides walking.

I was the same way and I switched to the gax x that melts on your tongue. It helps and works a little faster than the chewable. Move around a lot the more the better

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
