katiemart1 10 Posted January 5, 2014 Hi, I had really bad gas after I had my gallbladder removed about 10 years ago, but with the gastric bypass it got even worse (if possible!). Poor husband puts up with it but when I worked in an office I was kind of the "butt" of jokes about it. Now I will try your suggestions! 1 life_after_gastric_bypass reacted to this
kristenleigh435 10 Posted January 7, 2014 I thought I was the only one! I get gas more often but not really a lot but they are horrible in smell and not to be gross but so is the bowel movements. I have horrible problems with being able to go due to the Vitamins and so sometimes i have to use a stool softener to help and then oh boy watch out as soon as I fart and it smells like the living dead I know to get to the bathroom. LOL 1 life_after_gastric_bypass reacted to this

redstacey 33 Posted January 12, 2014 Well, I don't have a cure for the gas; but I have found something interesting. Here lately I have had this uncontrollable urge to eat oranges and drink orange juice. I don't know what is going on with that, but it seems like I just can't get enough. One thing that I have noticed since my orange fascination, is that the gas doesn't have that horrific smell any longer. I know that this is not a long term cure , but I will take what I can get for now. And so will my family. Lol 2 kristenleigh435 and life_after_gastric_bypass reacted to this

enjoyinglife 313 Posted January 13, 2014 I never played a band instrument in high school, but after surgery I apparently learned how to play the trumpet. Who knew? 3 KristinaRnY, life_after_gastric_bypass and *Misty*Raine* reacted to this
lhargis 23 Posted January 14, 2014 I had the RYN surgery last Thursday. I had nausea at first which was attributed to the hydromorphone they gave me in the pain pump. Now that the nausea and dry wretching is done, I have noticed a lot of gas, painful gas. Some say it is because of the CO2 they pumped me up with, but almost 5 days later, every sip I take I have a huge gas bubble that gets lodged and I have to painfully burp it out. I am even taking chewable gas pills to help with it. It doesn't smell yet (my husband and kids would let me know) but the pain I am experiencing the most of is from the gas moving around. Any suggestions on how to best rid myself of it besides walking.

Work in progress 33 18 Posted January 14, 2014 I was the same way and I switched to the gax x that melts on your tongue. It helps and works a little faster than the chewable. Move around a lot the more the better
