Flintstones with Iron? Multiviamin?

Recommended Posts

I'm on day 9 post op and I've been taking 2 Flinstones with added Iron for a Multivitamin. I was taking Centrum chewables but stopped post op after I got home because I'm currently having to take; Augmentin, Hydrocodone, sublingual B complex, sublingual D, Protonix, plus my multivitamin Every Day! The centrum chewable I was taking did not have added iron and I had to chew 4 gumball size chewables a day. I started takin the Flinstones because they have the added iron and I only need to take 2 a day and they are small. Someone told me it's BAD!!!! :( What should I take for a multi?

I can't speak to what's better or worse, but Flintstones with Iron are on the list of approved Vitamins my surgeon gave me. I'll be watching the responses you get - the size, taste and price are right , but I wasn't sure either. :)

My surgeon suggested the Flintstones complete- which is what I take. As long as it's ok with your doc, it's good.

I was going crazy looking for a Vitamin with added Iron yesterday I never thought about the Flinstones. My doctor told me I could take any chewable ones for now that I'm pre op and keep on for two post op weeks then start the biatric vitamin which he said I could purchase there at the office.

The bariatric and Centrum chewables made me sick so my doctor suggested Flintstones Complete which I can handle. I only take 1 per day.

My Doctor and Nutritionist told me 2 Flintstones Complete from now on. That's the only type of Multi-Vitamin that they recommend.

I look forward to my Vitamins because they are really the only things that don't cause much hernia chest pain and actually taste good to me.

Currently only cleared to take B12, Calcium and multis -- soon will add d3, Biotin and b complex

The adora chocolate Calicum disks are a real treat 2x a day -- picked them up at Vitamin Shoppe. Flintstones complete chews are cheapest on Amazon (two 150ct bottles for $26 total and I can share them with my 8yr old niece when she sleeps over)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
