Nope, didn't see the need. Kind of weird - I expected to see myself pigging out but I just didn't feel the urge.

As soon as I had a date for my surgery I began going through all of the horribly unhealthy things that I know I will miss. I know eventually I will be able to eat whatever (just smaller portions), but it is going to be a while. I tore up big macs large fries and a coke, pizzas, pastas, fried seafood, fried chicken, buffets, etc. I know it sounds crazy, but now that I am post op and I can't eat a large variety of foods, I get on Pinterest and I look at pictures of yummy awesome foods. Everyone thinks I am torturing myself, but, honestly, it makes me feel so much better. I also found recipes for making spaghetti using zucchini or squash for Pasta, cauliflower can be made into pizza crust, tortillas, etc, cabbage for the Pasta in lasagna, and grilled portobello mushroom caps as hamburger Buns. I don't know how many of these things are actually going to be good, but I sure am going to enjoy finding healthy alternatives to the foods I love!

This is a picture of a garlic cauliflower wrap. I would use this as a Pizza Crust. Just an example...Looks good, doesn't it?! LOL! Here is an actually cauliflower pizza made up and cooked (use your own toppings, of course)

And here is some spaghetti made using squash in place of pasta noodles

Good luck to you!!! And it is perfectly normal to eat before the surgery. After all, it is going to be a while before we can actually eat the foods we love (unhealthy ones anyways LOL) :D

I sure did have a semi funeral the last couple weeks even though I managed to lose 23 pounds over the 2 months prior to my surg date ... I'm 11 days out today

Some of my so called "lasts"-- I say semi funeral because I really did track my points with weight watchers and kept my indulgences within reason with some modification later in the day:

Brown rice shrimp tempura & crab sushi rolls

Grilled shrimp with jack daniels sauce and breadsticks at TGIF

Duck roasted in plum sauce & fried chicken (Malaysian yum!!!!)

Nonfat caramel machiattos no whip at Starbucks

chicken Marsala with breadstick & salad at Olive Garden & peach sangria (yummy!!!!)

I didn't include pizza which I sooooooo regret!!!

Sweets!!! I'm a home baker so I dabbled in the following:

Apple crumble, sweet potato pie, carrot cake & cream cheese icing, banana nut bread (made with butter & sour cream FULL FAT), weight watchers snack bars -- just to name a few

Missing fried fish and pizza since they weren't a part of my semi funeral -- lol-- oh yes I miss rugalas(cookies) too -- tiny rolled up pastries with apricot and chocolate filling .... Ohhhh man!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
