Splenda

Recommended Posts

Betty,

I am so glad you are feeling better. The Splenda may very well have been the cause of your symptoms. Perhaps your body is particularly sensitive to it.

And certainly I am not saying it is not harmful. I'm just not sure we know that it is harmful to the majority of people. It would take well-designed research to prove that conclusively.

Nancy

Like I said before, I never even read the article. Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby!

Anything can be bad for you. You could choke on a piece of raw carrot and drop dead, but I like the hippy natural thing. Naked, sugar, real boobs, etc. I limit myself to a spoon of sugar in my morning Decaf. Last night I had a candy bar and too many Pringles, but the night before I ate like a banded angel.

We wouldn't be here if we were obese, and I know sugar didn't cause me to be obese since it wasn't allowed in my home when I was a child. I became obese on wholesome foods (the only kind my mother bought.) No chips, cakes, pies, goodies, just meats, cheeses & veggies.

As an adult, I went to OA and abstained from sugar and alcohol for two years - it had zero affect on my weight. Blah blah blah about sugar in carbs.... I just wanna be normal, and normal people eat normal sugar, not 10 packs of artifical stuff a day to get a fix.

Sorry if I sound bitchy, but I am. It's 2:00 a.m. and I'm supposed to be sleeping but I have insomnia (once a month due to my precious monthly 'female" visitor.'

I don't think I am sensitive to it, after all I have been using some form of it since the 70's. Maybe I have been using it too long, I really don't have an answer. I know I feel much better now after being off of it for 6 days. I know I won't use it again. I will see how things go, and keep you all posted. I really don't think any of you need to stop using it just because I had problems with it. I actually wonder what results they would come up with if they did a study on folks that had been using it for as many years as I have, hmmmm....interesting thought.

"Dr." Janet Starr Hull is a graduate of Clayton College of Natural Health, accredited by such interesting organizations as:

* American Association of Drugless Practitioners

* International Iridology Practitioners Association

* American Herbalists Guild

* National Association of Nutrition Professionals

* American Naturopathic Certification Board

We can all sign up and "earn" online degrees in pretty much whatever we want to "study."

This doesn't automatically make her wrong. But her "credentials" are less than reassuring. It would be nice if someone who had a real degree and went to real science classes would chime in on the topic.

GSue is right on...

I have accreditation, earned by attending classes &/or lectures.

At the last seminar I earned accreditation for, a girl who sat near me text messaged with her cell phone the whole time we were there... she's accredited too.

Beware of any info that moves you to make changes until you research the article and it's author.

Just keep in mind that:

Internet information is only as legit as it's author.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
