Meal regime?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I am just wondering why do some eat 3 times a day max and others are instructed 3 cups a day for meals and then 2 small Snacks. I have had two fills and go up and down often. So I began researching and see that some drs say only eat 3 cups a day and that's if you are hungry. I was instructed 3 cups then 2 small snacks. Just getting discouraged as I am not in my green zone yet and perhaps eating more than I should be

Any input would be great

Thanks everyone :)

Every doctor is different. Mine said 3 meals 1/2 cup of food no Snacks. I have issues with my blood sugar dropping so I do eat snacks in between. His theory is if you are not hungry don't eat. But I have hunger so I eat.

i think my doctor just wants me to make good choices at mealtimes. so i am not hungry in between meals. most of the time i can follow those directions but night time is a tough time for me so i will have a Protein shake or Protein Bar. also if i am hungry around 3pm i will eat the salad i planned on for dinner. i think we all just follow our doctors instructions and figure out what works for us. i am diabetic too and sometimes the hunger feeling is very very strong and it can't be ignored.

I'm just six weeks out (today!) and trying to find a pattern for myself. I'm not hungry in the mornings so I'm not eating. I did think I'd do a shake mornings to get the Protein in, etc., but right now I'm not hungry so I'm not eating. This feels like my first basic tenet: don't eat if I'm not hungry. I have my first meal mid-day and that seems to be about 3/4 cup of food. Then I mark the time to see when I'm hungry again. There's no way I can make it until dinner time from here, plus evenings are tricky for me craving-wise and I don't want to set myself up with any deprivation mentality.

You know, as I write this I'm thinking 4PM ish (whenever four hours have elapsed from lunch) would be a great time for a Protein Shake. That's what I love about this forum -- in trying to help other people we get to sort through our own issues and reaffirm what is working, why we do what we do, what we want (health!).....anyway, I am going to try that. Then dinner can be with family or friends, etc. And my focus is the 3/4 cup food Protein first, veggies. And the big trick is not to graze afterwards, going back for another wee bit......maybe the Protein Shake will help me do that or it may make it so I'm not hungry at dinner. So it could backfire. Still, I'm going to try that today. Maybe 11am "lunch", 3PM shake, 7PM dinner would work well for me.

i eat when i am (truly) hungry

i do not diet nor do i deprive myself

i eat in my dr advised allotted size

focusing on Protein first (this is what keeps me going and full)

veggies and fruit....and i drink all the live long day...

different doctors advise people different things to do...i would assume in accordance to that persons (body, life etc)....for best results, it is vital to follow what one's own doctor instructs a person to do...

dont get discouraged as that solves nothing...

just keep doing what you are doing.....and realize it does work..

not overnight like we all wish.....but in time....we gained weight over a time

and it will be lost the same way we gained it...1/4 pound at a time

all the best.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
