Alice-P 0 Posted December 16, 2013 Hi everyone need some help, I went for my 5th band dill on Thursday, I only needed a tiny little but putting in 0.25. As I could feel quite a big restriction after the fourth fill. My nurse always has a problem finding my port, after a lot of prodding she found it but when she took the needle out it came away from the syringe,, the 0.25 leaked out, it seemed like a lot more but after a Fluid check the amount in my band was correct. When I went home, I discovered I could drink and eat almost normal speed, I find this really odd as I had quite a bit of restriction before. And couldn't eat half as much as I can now, I'm now really worried that something is wrong and theist 4 days I have eaten quite a lot and put a few pounds on.. :-((( has anybody else had this happen ? There is a really common saying around here "just because you can eat something doesn't mean you should". The band isn't meant to physically stop you from eating anything. Whether or not you're at the proper filled is determined by satiety, not fullness and not the amount you're eating. Are you satisfied on a cup or less of food for at least 4 hours? If yes, you're probably right where you should be. If no, you might need more Fluid. Keep in mind if you're eating until full you're likely eating to much. This is one of the reasons it's very important to stick to band sized portions. If you think the nurse leaked some of the Fluid, I would go back and insist your surgeon checks the fluid level, not the nurse or anyone else. lisafitz 18 Posted December 18, 2013 Mis73. Thanks for all that very important what you wrote and that link. I so needed to read that I have been banded for almost six years but I see myself heading back to my old ways. Time to get a grip I was going to get another fill. I always feel that gets me back in track. But then I'm tight n can't eat yogurt and smoothies. Because I go tight to get myself back I really do not want to feel that way again But i need to get control I'm going to try and get back to eating small portions again Small dish n see if I can hold out about three to four hours. Plus I love sweets something else I need to control I lost my weight all of it but thru the years I gained twenty two back n stayed there I want it off Thanks for the link and the words they meant allot Lisa 2 DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! and kll724 reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted December 18, 2013 Can't advice anything further than what Missy already said. It sounds to me like you are now challenging your band to stop you from eating! It won't, it might restrict the amount you eat, but it won't stop you from eating too fat and too much if filled properly! Slow down, use smaller plates and read the link Missy sent.
