Melissa Ayodele 5 Posted December 16, 2013 Question. I'm at 4 weeks Nddoin my normal walking, but I am so ready to up my work outs. I believe my doctor instructed my to wait for th 6 week mark to begin strength training and heavy cardio. Anyone have any advice?
Butterthebean 8,146 Posted December 16, 2013 I'd wait as he said. Then ease back in slowly. Don't let your enthusiasm cause you to over do it right away. Remember you've just had major surgery. But if you build your way back up slowly you'll be able to increase the intensity of your exercise soon enough.
Melissa Ayodele 5 Posted December 17, 2013 Butterthebean, thank so much. That is great advice. What are some things I can slowly start off with? Just to be on the safe side. As you said the surgery was def major and I don't want to push the beginning too much.
Butterthebean 8,146 Posted December 17, 2013 Well walking for sure. My first activity after that was cycling and elliptical. Easy going at first of course. After the 6 weeks I started some very light weights, and gradually increased the intensity and duration as I felt I could.
