Has anyone paid cash for their Sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I may need to pay cash for my VGS, I am wondering if anyone here has done this if so, how much?

We just had our health care canceled.

Thanks Paul

Yep, just forked out a pile for mine. $7000 for surgery, preop work up, 4 nights stay at clinic and Marriott for myself and my sister and plane tickets. I know some people have it done for cheaper, but my choice in surgeons and facility ran a little more. Obesity Control Center in TJ, Mexico.

I am paying cash for my sleeve and the total cost is almost $15,000. I am using Dr. Trace Curry in Cincinnati, Ohio. The price for the sleeve is $14,700, $200 for the initial consultation, and $30 for the psych evaluation. My insurance did cover the psych evaluation and I just had to pay my copay. The total includes all fees and it will be outpatient surgery, which makes me a little nervous. I will be sleeved at Journeylite and it is a center of excellence.

Yes sadly, but we see it as an investment into our future! Mine was high compared to a lot, but we live just outside of DC, 10k to the hospital and 5k to my surgeon then another 5k in pre and post follow up appts also figured in my preop testing which my insurance didn't cover either. My total was just under 20k.

I used Care Credit. My cost was around $19,000.

I know you posted this a while ago but just curious if care credit financed all $19,000? I currently have Care Credit but my limit is only $3,000 I am going to apply for an increase. I need to put at least $10,000 on my card to cover surgery.

$4200 with Dr Elias Ortiz. The BEST medical care I could have received.

Me too! I was there in October and had a fantastic experience. A Lighter Me is awesome.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
