14 Weeks Post Op

Recommended Posts

I'm feeling so much better now and I've finally got some of my energy back; although its not back one hundred percent yet & I'll find out in February whether I have an under active thyroid, which makes you tired very quickly if you do too much or over doing things ad I have a tendency to do.

My diets particularly the amount of food I'm consuming is still very much up & down & that in itself I'm trying my hardest to fight with as I need to eat lil & often rather than skipping meals completely ad its not good.

My enjoyment for my love of cooking has returned providing I'm not feeling knackered lol.

My dietician cracked me up & quoted what I've detailed below: -

Most Bariatric Patients lose between 65% - 75% of their body weight in the first 12 - 18 months. I've lost 65% of my body weight in the past 3 months.

Now Lucii as your dietician listen carefully because you've been ill on and off for 12 weeks since your operation; over Christmas I want you to sleep & get plenty of rest, eat things high in fat such as chocolate but not enough sugary things in one go to cause you dumping syndrome.

Eat pizza; nuts and fatty foods & as much Protein as you can & have a few glasses of wine. You now must start maintaining your weight for at least a couple of months now, before we want you to lose anymore.

Well I never ever thought I'd hear that from a medical professional in my life time LOL! I understand why tho as I was 15 stone 4lbs & I'm now 11 stone 4lbs which I've lost in 14 weeks & its a lot far too quickly.

Baring in mind I'm only 5ft 2inches & medically the correct weight for my height & bmi is between 8 stone to 8 & a half stone. So in total I've only got another 3 stone to lose before I'm at my target weight.

But everyone keeps telling me that they'll be nothing left of me if I lose another 3 stone. Gonna try to add some of my before & after pictures up now.

I'll keep in touch & let you know whether I've got sn under active thyroid as well as trying to maintain my weight for a couple of months.

Wishing you all love & support & god bless you all.

Kindest Regards

Lucii Mills

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
