dear ones, I am a 72 yr old female. I live in the woods near Fairbanks, Alaska. I am having surgery in the near future...shortly after the new yr., I hope. I realize I am one of the older people having this surgery but am looking forward to great results. I anticipate reversal of diabetes, hypertension, 120 lb. weight loss.

any other 70 plus people? my e-mail is kmre2291@yahoo.com

I am a 75 yr. old female--I had RNY in December of 2012. I am mobility challenged, so my weight loss has been slower than someone who can walk or run. I have lost 70 lbs. and am on a bit of a plateau.

It has been a great adventure. My first 3 weeks were unpleasant, but since then I have felt wonderful.

Hang in there and get plenty of Protein.< /p>

do you over 70's believe the surgery makes you feel alot younger and have more metabolism than before surgery?

Hi,how are you doing? I'm almost seven months out which doesn't seem possible. I've just broken an 8 week stall a week ago. I had lost nothing, gained 2# which I did lose. what broke the stall for me was adding magnesium to my vit/minerals. This week I've lost 2.8 pounds which is a big loss for me. due to health issues, I can't exercise. I have discovered N.E.A.T. for exercise which I'm reading up on. My basic mobility has improved so that's exciting. I'm 73 yrs old and have lost 65 pounds.

DEAR ONES,

I AM KMRE...KAREN...WHO STARTED THIS 70'S AND OVER. I HAD MY SURGERY 9 MTHS AGO AND AM SO HAPPY I DID THIS. I HAVE LOST BETWEEN 78-80 POUNDS...VISITING MY DAUGHTER IN OREGON AND SHE DOESN'T HAVE AN ACCURATE scales. I'LL BE HOME AGAIN TO THE WOODS OUTSIDE FAIRBANKS, ALASKA, IN 14 DAYS AND THEN WILL KNOW MY EXACT WEIGHT.

I AM A SLOW LOSER DUE TO MANY PHYSICAL ISSUES...WHICH ARE IMPROVING!!!!! DIABETES IS GONE...A1c A MONTH AGO WAS 5.4.

INCONTINANCE IS GONE. HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE IS GONE. LYMPHADEMA IN ONE KNEE NEARLY GONE. THINK ARTHRITIS IS IMPROVED, THINK FIBROMYALGIA IS IMPROVED, SCIATICA ON BOTH SIDES DEFINATELY IMPROVED. ANKLE IS WORSE, PROBABLY DUE TO WEIGHT SHIFT. FIGHTING DEPRESSION FOR SEVERAL REASONS INCLUDING BACKFLASH FROM THIS WONDERFUL SURGERY. A MAN WHO WAS A FRIEND OF MY HUSBAND'S TRIED TO KILL ME THIS SUMMER...AS A CHRISTIAN, I SURVIVED THIS DEMON DRIVEN ATTACK. IT DID shake ME UP SO STILL DEALING WITH THE SHOCK.

I AM LOSING SIZES LIKE CRAZY. DOWN TO 6-10 DEPENDING ON COMPANY AND STYLE. MY 16 YR. OLD GRANDSON TRIED TO DIPLOMATICALLY DESCRIBE ME ONE DAY AND SAID, "GRANDMA, YOU'RE SURE, UH, SHAPED NICE NOW."

FUN TO SEE ALL YOU "OLDER" LADIES...EVEN SOME OLDER THAN ME.

BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL,

KAREN WHO LIVES IN THE WOODS OF ALASKA WITH ALL OF HER BIG CLOTHES FALLING OFF SO BUYING NEW LITTLER ONES!!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
