you have to get your nutrition in. if you are nauseated than you need to talk with your doctor. there are medications that can help you. good luck to you

Agreed. If you are struggling with nausea, call your surgeon's office. You shouldn't be feeling sick all of the time.

I had little interest in food until this last week. All of a sudden, I am a little hungrier... but even when I wasn't interested, I tried to at least get some nutrition into my bod. As fun as it is to see the weight melt off and to not be worried about wanting to eat all of the time, we need to remember to fuel ourselves, from time to time. I don't force it but I make sure to eat something at least twice a day. :)

Thanks. Popsicles are my only saving grace. I feel like something is stuck in my throat, it's just sitting there. If that makes sense. It doesn't hurt, but I just don't want to eat. I did make myself eat 4 ounces of mushies this evening. Sipping on Water now. I am so grateful for all the people on here for sharing their experiences.

I really liked the Title of your Post, but then you went on and complained, making it a bad thing....

I know many people from support groups, etc, because of the post-op swelling, etc, have experienced this if not for a short time period...NO HUNGER and INABILITY to overeat...generally they are thrilled, thinking that is all there is to it........but it is short lived when the inflammation goes away...only to have to go through bandster Hell to get back to that place...Green Zone..

I have no hunger, no appetite, and the thought of certain foods...foods I used to LOVE, makes me nauseated...as does watching other people eat like pigs!

It does give newly banded folks a "Taste" of what is to come in the future when their band is adjusted with fills, mimicking the inflammation they have now....giving them motivation for good things to come....

The process of band adjustments is spread over time so we can slowly adjust ourselves to a new lifestyle, a lifestyle that is NOT just a figure of speech....I recall a conversation with my Dr. and he said Imagine if everyone had their bands fully adjusted on the operating table...it would be disastrous...but that is were they eventually wind up, slowly over time....

But you are one of those feeling it all instantly...not good and can be quite a shock....

When that day does come, by then hopefully you will have learned a whole new way of eating, both in the manner and the types of foods, in order to coexist with the band and be truly successful...

As others have said, this is short lived....

I'm not complaining. The problem is that I am not hungry, and having a hard time getting any nutrition in. The smell, thought, everything about food makes me nauseous. Called the Dr. and I am dehydrated. Will be going to see the surgeon in the morning. Until then, Popsicles and Water for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
