7 months and 90lbs down

Recommended Posts

So I thought I'd share my thoughts now that I'm 7 months out. Firstly 7 months goes fast! Like too fast!

I'm fine no complications to share, though my mum who had surgery 3 weeks after me. She ended up getting clots and is now on warfarin. But I believe that's more to do with surgery in general not specifically wls.

I think I've been bad, I don't think I've ever got in the recommended amount of Protein or liquids. But I try. I know I'm almost always dehydrated which doesn't feel too great.

I don't have any restrictions on anything I can't eat but of course 5 bites and I'm full.

I haven't been that active on here but if any one has any questions, I'm always happy to help!

The pics are from before surgery the day after surgery and some random ones over the past 7 months. With the most recent that was take 2 says ago whilst getting ready for the work Xmas do :)

You look wonderful! I was wondering. Clots and a leak are two things I fear. How'd your mom become aware of having clots?

Hey Melissa,

Thank you!

Mum wasn't feeling too great and she wasn't able to drink very much of anything. Which I'm sure sounds like a hard thing to pick out when everyone struggles but I guess in comparison to me she just didn't look/feel too good. I tok her to see our doc who don't a ct scan and blood tests. This picked up the clots and At the beginning she we on injections but now just warfarin tablets with weekly blood tests to check the INR levels.

I will say though, she is 135lbs, 49 years old and even with that complication I don't think she regrets anything. She's pretty much at her goal weight now.

I hope that helped x

It did thank you so much. It's wonderful that you two get to share this journey together. Bless you both

Thanks Melissa.

It is nice having mum with me but boy is she funny! She's definitely the bossier one and making sure I'm drinking. I would say once a fortnight I feel bad from being dehydrated. And today happens to be one of those days. So I got the telling off, I guess that's why she's the mum haha

I'll actually post her pics too :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
