Lapband support desperately needed

Recommended Posts

:( This is me lately. I had surgery in March of 2011. I started at 255 pounds and got down to 202 and since then have been struggling to lose weight. I currently weigh 217 pounds. I have had a lot of health issues before and after the surgery including numerouse back surgeries-to many to count so exercise has been an issue. I keep trying, though, and that says a lot in itself. I would like to find a mental, or buddy that would be willing to help me with all types of issues including psychological, health, and nutrition issues. Thanks for listening and hope to hear from someone soon.

Sorry to hear about your back surgeries. My thoughts are call your band surgeon and see your dietitian. They know you and know best how to help.

I have an aunt around 85 who does yoga in a chair. I know nothing about yoga or the chair type, maybe look into something like that.

Feel better.

i feel for you and think in spite of it you have done rather well. my husband has had 4 back surgeries and still is having trouble. so i know what kind of pain you are in. at this point make sure you are in the green zone., and eat healthy. Protein first, vegetables second, carbs last. eat fresh wholesome food. and i wish you all the luck in the world. try not to be hard on yourself. but i do have to say one thing,,try to think about the weight loss as yet another treatment for your back. and Water exercise would be very beneficial to you. best wishes

KL we are here for you. Terry & Arline gave some good advise, the only thing i would add is look into swimming exercises. I have back trouble and cannot do a lot of strenuous exercise but I find that swimming is easier on my back (it's fun & refreshing too).

As for the psychological help, I am a good listener. PM me if you would like to talk. This journey is not easy, the head games are the worst. S hit here it is New Years Eve and I'm online.....afraid to socialize? Partly, yes. I am still trying to figure out the social thing with my new lifestyle. You would think being at goal for a year now it would be a piece of cake.....not for me. It's a struggle every day.

Anyway, you have my full support & like I said PM me if you want to talk.

Happy New Year! 2014 will be a good year!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
