LSUTIGER65 1 Posted December 15, 2013 Had my surgery in August of 2012, start weight was 387. Now I weight 230-235 and couldn't be happier. It was easy and suggest to anyone concerned about side effects to ask others who have had the surgery because all have different stories. I had the gastric sleeve by Dr. Lavin at Surgical Specialist and the pre-surgery procedures to get done for mainly insurance purposes were drawn out. Once the sleep apnea, nutritionist, psychiatrist, doctor visits, blood work, etc., was done and surgery completed it was a matter of time and all weight just comes off. I do not feel I was a normal person with the procedure from talking to others, I do not get hungry! The doctor told me it is a lot of "mental" when it comes to weight and if I am not hungry don't eat. I took this to heart and ran with it but I ALWAYS stayed on top of my Vitamins and never missed a day or altered from what was told to me. Anyone needing advice, coaching, help, or someone to lean on let me know I would be happy to share my story.

Arts137 1,811 Posted December 17, 2013 Congratulations and I sure agree, it IS mental. My fat brain Skippy does not always agree, but so far so good. 1 ging70 reacted to this
LifeLiver 22 Posted December 17, 2013 I had a sleeve done 10/22, I am distraught, I am always hungry. I can eat alot, and take in about 1200 cal a day...being mindful and choosing wisely. I was down to 223 on 11/6 and since then have gained..up to 235 today. How is this even possible as 1lb is 3500 calories! I am working out...I am so sad. Sorry to bust in on your positive post, but looking for advice from you... 1 Arts137 reacted to this

Please check the research page and review the "carbs and cocaine"... I wonder if you (like me) have a problem with carbs -- if I eat ANY carbs I am famished for days!!! 1 LifeLiver reacted to this
LSUTIGER65 1 Posted December 18, 2013 Congrats on your success. Having surgery tomorrow with Dr. Moore who is in with Dr. Lavin's group. Going to Crescent City Surgical to have it done. Fingers crossed I have the same excellent experience. Hope all went well with surgery. Welcome to your new life. The first week or 2 is adjustment time. I was amazed how I just was not hungry and really did not have any urge to eat. I commented about this to my doctor and they said if not hungry don't eat. This is when I started training my brain that I did not need to eat. I believe it is like day 18 or so but it will be pure heaven when your diet says you can have a smoothie. I went to smoothie King and got the small Gladiator, has 45 grams Protein and is awesome. I had a smoothie here a day for the next 6-9 months and it craved any sweet tooth I had and was really all I needed. Don't forget to take your Vitamins and supplements this is HUGE now you cannot let this slip. You are changing everything now and your body needs the Vitamins. Let me know how you are doing and if you need anything. I will help you throughout your journey. Also take weekly pictures (front, each side, back) and measurements, I did neck, chest, biceps, wrists, waist, hip, thighs, calves. I did all of this every Monday and kept a log my goal was to lose a total of 5' in 3 months, I lost 5'10" in total inches lost with all of those areas added together
