August 5th will be 6 years with my Lapband

Recommended Posts

It's been almost six years now . Was important decision I made back then and I am so happy I did. I was rough in the beginning getting sick allot adjusting to a new way of eating . Which I did and I didn't . I am

Still the same person . I still like my sweets and eat a piece if hoagie / sandwich etc!

Growing up I was a very thin person and could eat anything but as I got older things changed

Kids hormones women issues etc I ended up putting on 86 lbs. Did the whole thing weight watchers diet pills, diets etc for years Then I was introduced to the Lapband. And now I'm back to myself again

I went through allot with getting sick and adjusting. I did gain back like 20 lbs and I'm in a great place!! Working out doing Zumba and power classes walking has all been now part of my normal life! I feel awesome and happy

Being between a size 6 and 8 well that makes my day! Very happier with my choice of the Lapband!!

Thanks for the inspiration, Lisa! It's amazing how once the body gets off track it's so hard to get back to ourselves again. I am newly banded but already starting to feel that return to self.

You are where we all aim to be. Bravo! I had mine placed in 2006 and did well until 2012 when cancer struck it's ugly head. After that surgery I hardly remembered my band. Now I am searching around BariatricPal.com to find my way back to the path that leads to my green zone again.

Snow & cold here in Minnesota so my walking is not very nice. Today I walked & walked in my house. I looked rather silly but it did make me feel good.

This band has saved my life, as my blood pressure is better and my diabetes is curbed. Love my Lapband.

Merry Christmas And Happy Banded New Year!

It's so hard I do good then I don't

Had my gallbladder out and going back to the doctors for a follow up. I might get a fill

I gained like only 20 lbs to maybe 25 lbs back and if course I can't get myself back to doing the right thing. Knowing you can get a fill to help

Is great and not so great. Because your suppose to be learning to eat right and change your habits So hard

But it's been years now and I am happy at were I am. Sounds stupid over 20 lbs but 20 lbs can turn into 30 lbs and so on So you have to be worried

I hope all is well with you. Cancer is not a good thing. I only had to deal with Melanoma.

My cousins breast cancer and watched my dad die with his liver not pretty

Hope your doing well. And keep up what your doing Everyday as we know it is a struggle

We are suppose to get snow today but our snow and yours. Is very different

People here in Jersey think they will die one day if they don't run to the store lol. It's pretty funny

In glad I came back in here I still need support

I think I will always need it

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
