How much weight did you lose during your first month post-op?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I will be having my surgery in 4 days and I'm curious to know how much weight you lost during your first month?

Also, I took 2 weeks off of work and I'm wondering if people will notice any difference in 2 weeks...

I'd love to read your responses!!

I had a month off work. In that first month I lost about 35-40 pounds.

You don't have a lot of weight to lose so I think you will probably lose a bit slower. Plus I am a guy and we seem to lose weight more quickly.

I took a month off of work, and I lost about 18 pounds. I remember being disappointed about that, but in retrospect, 18 pounds is a lot to lose in 4 weeks!!! Six months out now, and I could not be happier with my weight loss! Everyone is different, your journey is your own. Good luck!

It's all relative because if you start at a higher weight you're bound to lose more, etc, but to answer your question, I lost 28 pounds in my first month.

The rule of thumb is in the first month you lose about 10% of your starting weight.

I'm exactly 1 month post op and have lost 23 lbs. I'm disappointed too - but I'm HORRIBLE at getting my Vitamins in. I think that might make a big difference. and I've only just started an exercise routine. I started my journey at 298. I'm now 275 and only down from a size 22 to a 20. (I'm 5'8 ). I know slow and steady wins the race and I'm hoping being more diligent with the vitamins will make a noticeable difference.

One month out from surgery (had on November 12th) I lost 15 pounds. Plus my 14 on preop diet, 29 pounds down since October 28th, that's not too bad I suppose but I do worry I'm failing! Fat brain again I suppose

I told my mother I was a bit concerned bc today is post op day 8 and I'm only down 8 lbs since surgery. She looked horrified at me (she's a nutritionist) and said, " you can't lose even 5 lbs a week for a year my darling. That would be 260 lbs and you only weigh a few more than that!" Then I realized she was right and we are all different, all on our journey and will all lose differently. We will ALL stall, probably twice at minimum and we just need to stay the course and fight the fight! That's why I love, love, love this forum! It inspires AND educates me daily!

4 weeks today and I've lost 22lbs. 33 since my pre-op liquid. I had a few complications, went back to the hospital 6 days after surgery( for 3 days) so no exercise. I think slow and steady wins the race. Today is the FIRST day I really feel anything close to "hunger". Some days I forced myself to eat, just wasn't hungry at all.

I had surgery on 11/19/2013 and lost 17 pounds in the first 10 days. I have not lost a single ounce since then! As a matter of fact, I have bounced up and down between the same 2 pounds. I am following the diet to the letter, keeping a food log, 60-100 grams of protein/day, 60-100 oz of water/day and exercising daily. This "stall" is almost three weeks old. Why is this happening so soon after surgery? I am devastated and severely disappointed! I have read that this surgery doesn't work for everyone. I pray I'm not one of those who fails and is doomed to obesity. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm quickly running out of hope and about to give up! :(

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
