I like my Protein Shakes. I wouldn't drink or eat anything I thought tasted awful. My favorites now are:

Chike High Protein Iced coffee, Unjury chocolate Splendor, Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard vanilla Ice Cream, Syntrax Matrix Bananas & Cream, Strawberries & Cream, Orange Cream, & Peanut Butter Cookie. I also like the Healthwise hot chocolate. When I was immediately post-op I drank a lot of the Syntrax Nectar flavors (mix with water) such as Roadside Lemonade, Lemon Iced Tea, Twisted cherry, and Fuzzy Navel. I also did a lot of the Unjury chicken Soup.< /p>

A lot depends on what you mix the powder with - I like Hood Calorie Countdown milk and Carbmaster Vanilla milk. And I doctor up my shakes with add-ins such as the Torani sugar free syrups, PB2, frozen berries, and instant espresso. Just one example - yesterday afternoon I made Healthwise hot chocolate with vanilla milk (hot), a shot of sugarfree peppermint Syrup, and a spoonful of instant espresso - for a protein peppermint mocha. It was delicious and came out with 140 calories, 6 carbs, and 26 g. protein. Check out the thread with Protein Shake recipes, there are some good ideas in there!

WoW!!! Thanks! That's a huge variety of things, and I thought I would be limited to what I would be able to have !

I am a huge coffee lover, so I could not live without Big Train Fit Frappe Protein Drinks in a Mocha and Espresso. However, many surgeons do not allow caffeine for weeks or sometimes months after surgery. Be sure to ask. Right after surgery, I was using Chike and Syntrax daily. I must be the only crazy person on the planet, because I personally think that Unjury is about the worst thing I've ever tasted, but hey, everyone else seems to like it!

Nope! Think Unjury tastes like dead rat!!! Smells like one anyway, so assuming flavor is close

I'm with y'all on the Unjury. Love the Synthrax Matrix ones and can't stand the nectar ones.

Just discovered the bariatric pantry hot Choc and Cappuccino (not real, no coffee) and love em.

Have chike saved for later after I am allowed coffee!

My favorite is Premier Protein chocolate. They make a vanilla flavor also, but to me it has a grainy texture. I tried Bariatric Advantage chocolate and one of the nectar ones, but hated them both. Haven't tried unjury (but what's with that name??).

The first 2 brands I tried were great and I recommend them to everyone... plus they're cheap!

About $1.50 each at Walmart or Sam's Club.

Premier Protein is fantastic! Only 130 cals with 30g protein and 1 g sugar. After I found these I was finally able to tolerate shakes.

I really like the Ensure High Protein ready to drink shakes (Milk chocolate flavor). 210 calories, 25g protein, 5g sugar, 2.5g fat. They are a little pricey at 10.99/4 pack. But, they taste just like chocolate milk and go down very smoothly- not gritty and no aftertaste. They are easily portable and don't need refrigeration (although I like mine cold). They also have dark chocolate, vanilla and strawberry flavors but I have not tried them yet. I wish I would have known about them during my liquid phase!

Nice! The ensure hi Protein drinks in Canada are quite different... About the same calories, but only 12g protein, and 31g carbs. Fat is around 5g. We get 6 per pack for $11.99. Yours sounds way better!

I just had premier Protein chocolate I agree with you. Up into now it's the only thing I "enjoy" I couldn't stomach anything.

I can't find the Premier shakes anywhere. I don't have a costco or SAMs membership. Any ideas?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
