VSG AJH 499 Posted January 5, 2014 I know the feeling when I went in per op I was 256.5 and when I came Hm from hosp I was 263! Went up 7 lbs... From 263 I've lost 16 lbs as of yesterday . But today I went up 1.5 lbs feeling a lil discourage. I also watch a lot of u tube videos and a lot of the ppl had lost 100+ lbs by 6-8 mos . If I could do that I would be so happy..... I certainly plan on hitting the gym as soon as I can Also, I plan on finding some healthy recipes. Of course bring from Texas I enjoy food and cook like a Texan so I have to stop that habit and change my whole life style.. Once we get to start eating normal food we need to start a receipe section. There's a food a recipe section here on Bariatric Pal. You can start looking and dreaming now. 2 tami j and shall258 reacted to this

barefeet 73 Posted January 5, 2014 HVe any of you read thru some of the recipes? Anything u want to try? I thought the meatball as and then there was some Mexican bake thing that looked good might be a good place to start as I can feed myself and the family and have some leftovers to freeze that hopefully can come to my rescue in nights we are busy. To simplify things, I've been using a couple of Paleo cookbooks (Paleo Comfort Foods and Paleo Slow Cooking), as well as making recipes from Paleo blogs and Pinterest pins, to feed myself and my family. I'm still on soft foods, so we're eating lots of crockpot dishes and Soups, which hasn't been bad during this surprisingly chilly Texas winter. I'm not all crazy Paleo, but these recipes eliminate the flour/rice/noodles/ etc. I can't have, but work out the flavor profiles for me so I'm not winging it at the end of a busy day. 1 tami j reacted to this

I will be attending this Wednesday 1/8 support meeting at the colleyville offices. It starts at 6:30, no appt as far as all the support mtg info states. I hope you can make it and we can meet in person too. I believe shell and bare feet are also trying to attend. Ready to get to the gym 24 hr off western center in a few more weeks to start doing things other than the treadmill at home! I'm open to anyone interested in being workout partners as well
abrooke1976 16 Posted January 7, 2014 Oh I will be there! I have a nutrition class on Thursday as well. I will be having my surgery at Victory Medical Center. It seems like it will never get here. Melissa at his office has been wonderful to me!! I have BCBS so I hope they approve me after I go through all the stuff I need to do. 1 tami j reacted to this
shall258 12 Posted January 7, 2014 Hi Brooke, I used dr Kim's office and I have BCBS they had my approval with in 2 wks of me finishing my classes and all the test needed before surgery. Because of BCBS I had to use dr Holden at Baylor trophy club. Keep in mind the insurance specialist are pros at knowing these policies and how they work and the required documentation that will be needed for approval process. I'm sure you will have your approval soon and May will be here in the blink of an eye. Time flys by. The morning of my surgery I was pleasantly surprise to learn that dr Kim would be assisting dr holding on my surgery. Made me feel good and at ease to know I had two of the best dr in area doing my surgery. And because he really is the face of Kim baratrics. In my opinion they are excellent surgeons, I personally had no complications or pain. And Baylor nursing dept and dr where all so nice and treated me and my husband so kindly. The best of luck to you! And it does help to have local buddies. I will be working out at LOA fitness it's an all women gym located off hardwood and 121 rt next to the KFC (ironic- lol). I think it's Bedford or maybe Euless. I have no wk out buddies and would welcome anyone who would like to go . 1 tami j reacted to this
abrooke1976 16 Posted January 7, 2014 Thank you for responding to me! I'm for sure not ready to join a gym but I'm sure it is in my near future! My last class will be in April. I work at a school in Fort Worth so our last day of school is in May and I will hopefully schedule my surgery soon after. I am so ready for this! Lately my knees and back are starting to hurt all the time and I know my weight is a factor. I look forward to hopefully meeting you in person.
barefeet 73 Posted January 7, 2014 Brooke- I wholeheartedly agree with shell... Dr Kim and Holden were great, surgery easy, nurses amazing, and like you I had Melissa at dr Kim's office on my insurance with BCBS and I had an answer within 7 days... I called and has them fax the letter.
