Hello everyone, I received my band 12/4 and into my thick Fluid phase. My pain has diminished and am looking fwd to pureed foods! My only concern is that I am not consuming as much Water as needed. I wanted to join a blog where I can meet folks going through the same thing.

Welcome and I'm so glad you are feeling better! I actually struggled with the Water thing until recently. It really took me about 3 months to figure it out. I had a hard time not drinking an hour before eating then an hour after eating and then it's time to eat again - lol. So I try to get a lot of water in - in the morning and then later in the evenings. I also sip water all day.

i have a large glass that contains 32oz of Fluid. i have either Water or crystal light in it. i drink on it all day refilling it when it gets empty. as for meals. i figure the time i am preparing my meal is enough time to not drink. and than i wait 30 min's after my meal to start drinking again. remember everything liquid should count in your Fluid intake. this container i use has a lid that i can put on and take with me in the car.

Hi there, glad you found the site! I've learned a lot here from lots of amazing people and fun, too -- I'm almost six weeks banded now and I'm sooooooo happy with my new life.

For hydration I fill up 32oz. glass juice bottles nearly to the top with Water then add a splash of unsweetened cranberry -- makes a nice light pink drink. If I need sweet I put in a little Steevia (I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners -- this one is a plant) and I also add a few capfuls of aloe for better digestion. This is my signature drink and when I open the fridge the bottles are there waiting. I like to drink one after exercising -- am tighter in the mornings so I can't chug it down like I used to -- and I like it around five o'clock when my brain thinks it's time for the old wine and cheese party.

This site is awesome, I love hearing everyones advice and I learning from everyones experiences. I was wondering which sugar to now use and may have give that one a try. Aloe is new, did you have a lot of refux problems or just an upset stomach?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
