Mid West 99 Posted December 14, 2013 Has anyone tried the cottage cheese test to see how much your pouch will hold before you're full? If so, what were the results? Thanks Lx
Mid West 99 Posted December 14, 2013 Or does anyone know either in mls or Fluid ounces how much their new pouch holds?
mommashari 55 Posted December 15, 2013 Can you use something other than cottage cheese? That is one thing I can not eat.
Mid West 99 Posted December 15, 2013 I must admit the thought of eating cottage cheese does turn my stomach a little but I've not heard of anything else. If there was another option, I'd be pleased to hear about it :-) I think they use cottage cheese as it doesn't take much chewing.
Truckerchic 171 Posted December 15, 2013 I found this very interesting info about our pouches http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/pouchrules.html 2 LeanMeanFightinMachine and SnowDaisy reacted to this
JeanaLuvsKisses 110 Posted December 15, 2013 I eat cottage cheese with pineapple several times a week. I can eat approximately 1/3 cup without the pineapple. I usually add 6 chunks/bites of canned pineapple and a little juice. YUM!
Mid West 99 Posted December 15, 2013 I found this very interesting info about our pouches http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/pouchrules.html Thanks for this, it makes interesting reading. We don't use a 'cup' as a measurement in the UK.A cup of tea is usually served in a mug and a cup is one of those silly little things that you see on Downton Abbey, lol. How many Fluid ounces would you say were in a cup?
JeanaLuvsKisses 110 Posted December 15, 2013 Sorry. 8oz =1Cup
Mkmb2006 41 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) I'm just 5 days post-op, and was told that my pouch now holds only 2 ounces, which is 1/4 cup. I guess eventually it gets to hold 4 ounces. Edited December 24, 2013 by Mkmb2006
Mid West 99 Posted December 31, 2013 Well, I've bought my cottage cheese and I think I'll do the test in the morning - mmm yummy, as much cottage cheese as you can eat, lol. I can't wait Still, it'll be good to know how much the new pouch can take. I will report back.
Peggy 53 69 Posted December 31, 2013 I did this Sunday.... I'm able to eat 8 ounces over a 20 minute time. Sleeve on 8/
Mid West 99 Posted December 31, 2013 And how do you feel about that?
Mid West 99 Posted December 31, 2013 This site says do it within 5 minutes so that no food (if you can count cottage cheese as food) has time to leave the stomach. It also says that basically you're ok as long as the amount the pouch will hold is less than 9 ounces. Jeez, don't you hear so many different things with this bypass malarky? https://www.bsciresourcecenter.com/proddetail.php?prod=A4 1 SnowDaisy reacted to this
Mid West 99 Posted December 31, 2013 Ok I did it. I have to admit I'd forgotten how large amounts of cottage cheese can be gross but the results were that I are 210g which is 7.4 ounces. So my pouch isn't tiny but nor is it huge. According to the link above up to 9 ounces makes no difference to weight lost. Something to think about.
ajustice 484 Posted December 31, 2013 I think I need to try this. I just need to get past the whole cottage cheese thing 1st. I tried tasting it before and kinda grossed me out. I may try tho. Thanks for sharing.
