I'm 3 days post-op and had a low grade fever 2 days post op (99.7) and have the same fever 3 days post op. While in the hospital they did a white count blood test, due to the fever, but it was normal. I'm still a little concerned. My doctor's instructions indicate that I should only call them if my fever exceeds 101.

Anyone else have a post-op fever?

I had a fever the whole time I was in the hospital and then had one off and on for a couple of weeks after surgery. My doctor wasn't concerned unless it got high, but it never did. It eventually just stopped on it's own. No idea why I had the fever.

My doc was not concerned unless the fever got to 101 I had a 99.9 reading a few times but I was givien tylenol IV regularly in the hospital I think that kept in check and when I got home I continued with that in dissolvable form. Definitely keep an eye on it.

Yes, do keep an eye on it. At the same time try not to worry. I consistently run a bit above normal. ( 99 is my norm) I am never sick or have infections, just the temp my body usually reads. Even now that I am suffering the "deep freeze" associated with weight loss I still read 99. Just take it easy and heal well!

Thanks everyone. So glad I have the knowledge of this forum to draw on to get some immediate feedback to ease my mind. I'm so paranoid about getting a leak ...

I think they told me 103 meant trouble. Below that is probably all the other repair work going on inside your body. I know I felt warm a couple days after getting home.

I too had a fever for about 5 days post-op. It felt like I was catching the flu, but it faded by the end of the week. It was probably just my body working overtime to repair the damage from surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
