Staples, Stitches, or Glue?

Which did you have to close lapband incisions? Which leave the least scarring?

I had glue on the 3 smallest, and stitches (the kind that dissolve) for the largest incision where they placed the port. I can't even see the small ones anymore. The big one has faded nicely as well, though I can still easily see it.

good question. if you have a choice don't choose the staples. i have 6 little incisions and 1 big one. and i can still see where the staples were. but they are all fading okay. i don't think the small ones will be noticeable soon

Mine closed nicely, I had stitches(I think), but left the hospital with seri-tape. The only one that is fully visible is the port, that is because it is the biggest. But, that fades pretty much too(as I left my top and look)!! :D

18 months post op...5 incisions....the only one i can see is where the port is and its so faint you have to damn near eyeballing it to see it.....little itty marks are least of my worries........i had a breast reduction in the 90s and those you can still see (the scars).......lap band, nope....

I have glue and with past surgeries (I had my boobs done years ago) the glue doesn't scar as much. Just depends on your skin type. Once the glue has dissolved I used Bio-Oil (the Walgreens version).

I had staples. (Yuk.) My incisions are healing nicely but still quite red. I had surgery in March, had staples on those incisions, as well and those scars are still pretty red, too. Maybe because I am so fair skinned? I don't know. :)

How long until the glue can come off. Today is Day 7 postop for me and the glue is flaking at the sides and getting itchy.

I have a thick bulging scar between my ribs from gall bladder surgery (10/2012) and I have stitch markets and the scars are still visible. For that, I had the old hard stitches they cut out day 9 post.

Highly unlikely your surgeon will give you a choice. I had glue (dermabond) on the smaller ones plus steristrips. Sutures on the port incision with steristrips. Other than still being real pink they closed beautifully.

Glue here as well on all 3 incisions.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
